awesome how long is the pole from B & Q? is thier diff sizes? waht would you suggest?

Go for a short extension one, something that's about two foot long, and extends to about four foot.   Most of us go for the biggest possible and find it's not suitable because you end up jabbing people passing behind you in the head.

Hi Dean do you have some ladder experience?  if you have with things like painting or what have you window cleaning is different as you will need to do quite a few houses per day or climbs a day just be carefull if you think its not safe to go up dont,

Window cleaning might seem easy to do but,it actually isn't.You need some experience.

ive done landscaping isit any harder than that? and my dad had all the kit years ago, and i did the 4 bed house. found loads videos on how to do proper on utube, going to repractice on my windows and my mums and other friends, till confident.

just trying to get all the kit together, want to be up and running within 2 weeks, having leaflets and biz cards printed getting quotes.

Looking at it as 2nd income at moment, testing the waters, and not outcome dependant, as high expectations only leads to dissappintment.

Going to set relealistic goals of getting 1-2 new customers per week, should not be too hard. I'm strong fit and able and not stupid so should do ok, after month one i be fine i recon.

on a serious note thats what i did 2 days a week with a fella  and canvassed like mad
he even sold me some his round which was out of his preferred area

6ft closed opens to approx 18ft, u will need to wrap a bit of insulation tape round end to get a tight fit on squeegee. Costs £15. comes in handy for doing windows above conservatories that the wfp boys say you cant do wfp. A lot cheaper than unger extension poles of simular lengh.

Scrapers and scaper blades.

Get a two inch scraper that'll fit into your bucket on a belt.  Change the blade regularly and don't leave it to rust overnight in your bucket on a belt.

Also, get a big four inch Unger scraper and spare blades.  This will be great for all those paint covered minging new cleans you hopefully will pick up.  (It also fits on a pole which is handy).

On a paint covered/heavily soiled window; get window nice and soapy, scrape.  Blade off soap, check where you missed - wet 'n' scrape those bits.  Soap window, squeegy, detail - then off to next window.

The following month it'll be much easier, just soap up, squeegy and detail (that means you tidy up the soapy edges with a scrim cloth).

Go canvassing and away you go, I've gotta say I don't use all the silly faffy belt buckets and pouches. I just go with minimal equipment and crack on!
