automatic doors..shops/garages
« on: April 03, 2011, 06:11:16 pm »
cleaned 7 garages yesterday with automatic doors its a pita waiting for customers to get out the way so i can get it locked shut to do the "hidden" side which then takes all of 30 seconds, slows the job right down sometimes waiting for this. one of the most annoying things.

Is there not a way to shut off one door at a time?

Do you mean you were up a ladder against the fire station's doors, which opened automatically, and you fell on your ass?

If so,  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hi
I do a shop front with one of these doors, but just have to get the staff to lock them, once for the insides to be done and then once for the outsides to be done.
When my son helps me he usually does the inside whilst I do the outside at the same time, but I find that confusing. Initially some customers would get very irritated that they had to wait, but over time they have been more tolerant.
It always been wasted time looking for a responsible person with the keys to lock the door and I have often wondered if I could make a couple of covers with sticky bottoms that I could use to cover the electronic beams with, but have never got round to it to see whether it would work or not.
In the summer the shop opens at 6am but the employees start work at 5am. I usually clean the windows first and then the front door about 10 minutes before opening time, get one of the staff to open the door for me and do the insides. By the time I have finished with the other insides its opening time anyway.

The only job I have like that is the inside of a doctor's surgery.  I do the outsides at the weekend when the surgery is closed but I do the inside 3 times a year.  Have to get the receptionist to lock them for a minute.  There are two sets of doors too so it's a bit of messing about.

sometimes if you stand or kneel to the side it can be done, we used to do a few kwiksaves like this and most of the time it could be done, be careful though as sometimes get caught out, but usually easier than finding someone who can lock them off
