What fittings do I need?
« on: April 01, 2011, 10:00:59 pm »
What fittings do I need to DIY a WFP two-man-system?

I've a tank with a hole with a 15 mm screw thread hole in it.  What do I get that screws into that.

And I'll be running two pumps (shuflo) and two pump controllers from it.

What would you guys suggest I get for fittings?  I take it hoselock isn't popular?

Jesus, or should I say, 'Bhuddah', but I'd have thought a man with your experience and friends etc on ciu would have come up with a solution by now.

Why are you referring to Hozecock, for example?  That's for garden pipe, that's all.

Don't you want two outlets in that tank?

What you got?  Holes that are female?  Then you need a male to suit.  A male with something you can connect a pipe onto that goes to a pump.

Thanks, Stephen, now what size hose do you use  from tank to pump?  Normal garden hose stuff?

PS....so is a van. So make damn sure you have a warranty on the part that is 1% solid.

Yes, I think from the tank they are 3/4 inch, but I hate inches!  As soon as you get away from the tank being in inches, you can talk Napoleonic Code and mms etc.

I'd go for the 3/4, as Stu says, as your outlet.  Think then upon the inlet of the pump.  Check the manufacturer for the info on you pump.

Got a Vernier gauge?

and yes garden hose is fine from tank to pump, run a hose to a y splitter or t and keep the lengths equal and run to pumps, and again keep the lengths the equal to the reels( in fact forget that it won't matter after the pumps if you are using two

In other words, Tosh, use a 3/4" Hozecock on your tank outlet and then something that fits on that to go to the pump.  I gotta think what I got now.

Cheers guys, I've got a 3/4 inch one pencilled in from Gardiners.

And another post!

But I'm not as bad as Dazmond, when he went WFP we were tortured for months with his constant posts and he kept on changing his mind too!  ;D

I'm not sure what you mean, but the screw hole in my van tank is about 15mm which is about 3/4 inch, so I'm about to order a 3/4 male to screw into the female hole.

No probs!

I remember being just as confused Tosh, don't worry, Master Jedi will help you , Confucious, as long as you wait.

I just can't remember the next part.

Stu: do you mean put a one inch female onto the 3/4" male from the tank?

no mate, I thought the female thread in the tank took a male 1inch to 1/2 barb but I could be wrong and it could be 3/4 to 1/2

I'm in no postiion, as my tank has male connections.  I think they are 3/4" to take a Hozecock connection screw-on jobbie.

I have had 'normal' tanks in the past, but can't remember the gen on them.

this is what i thought all tanks i have seen indeed either have 3/4 or 1" inlets and have a 1/2" barb on the end to connect hose to. Actually why are we going round the houses here? Tosh what tank did you buy we can just check online now.
