yell.com results
« on: March 27, 2011, 02:50:33 pm »
Hi All
Got my stats from Yell.com for May10 to Feb 11. I had 69 calls, 61 were answered at a cost of just over £400. They have reduced the price slightly this year to £391 inc vat vat. This equates to £5.68 a call if the numbers are the same as last year.
Got the guy ringing me tomorrow to see if I want to go ahead again. What do you think to those numbers?
Cheers, Tom.

Hi Tom,

Well if your average house for those 61 confirmed custies is more than £6 your laughing  ;D

£5-6 to gain a customer is nothing really.

What are the custies like that came to you through Yell?

Av house price, compared to your normal average
Good payers?
Had windies before?

Would be interesting to know mate.

Cheers

i would say forget yell.com and use the money to create a website or improve a website already active.

I have had 3 jobs off my site in the last month and i did it myself im hoping to get it done by a pro designer soon to improve the look and make it easier to use contact form ect.

Hi Tom,  is the 61 confirmed customers and regular window cleaning ?  - if so, just do the maths what income has this
money brought in ? if 400 has generated 3k - lovely jubley - if it's only raised 400 then you've not lost out but
i would try something different next year.

so far, all our advertising has brought in way more than we spent out - it's only leaflets that seem to stuggle to
pay for their outlay.

Yeah, it's tricky though guys. Unfortunately, I can not check the "value" of the calls. I do ask new customers where they got my details from but only a handful have said Yell.com so my gut feel is not to renew, at least for a few months and see if the number of incoming calls drop off. The majority of my customers have come from leaflets and referrals.

Seriously, would you say leafleting has a less success rate than an ad in the paper? B**locks - just ordered 2500 more leaflets! Same price as the ad in the paper. Gutted  :'(
