Hi do any of you go up the ladder on first cleans.
« on: March 27, 2011, 05:45:39 pm »
I was just wondering do any of you wfp w/cs still go up a ladder on first cleans so you know for sure the frames and glass are really clean for a wfp clean next time.
Im asking this as i did a new on last week and the frames were filthy and the glass was very dirty and had baked on bird droppings so i went up and cleaned it all traditional but i told the woman next time and so on i will wfp them, it just seemed to me that doing it this way means ive cleaned all the dirt webs etc off and next time it will be a doddle.

Yes i do, first impressions count in this game. I give the cills a 'proper clean' while im up there and its then easier on the second clean!

Absolutely NOT.

if they are in a bad way it's a good dose of TFR - then and really good scrub, then back for a final rinse.

if there is any queries on upper sills i ask custy to double check before i leave.

all good so far !

I used to but you are just making it more difficult to then switch over to wfp as you have done it once with a ladder, in the customers eyes why can't you keep doing it from a ladder.

I even used to do the ones that were in with the pole, but if they were out do them trad then switch to wfp on the next clean.

But now I just pole them with confidence

at times we do: if really bad and a fussy customer, we would use a wet but not soapy microwipe just to clean up top of frames etc ....

Well i did a new one today the windows weren't to bad i wfp the upstairs and my partner dodged the drips to do the downstairs, all my new ones are going to be wfp upstairs.
The thing im not keen on is they are still wet when you leave but the first ones drying off looked good, wfp does save so much time, some of my old custys i will still do traditional but any new will be pole instead of ladder.

I used to, but got sick of it.  I use an Unger 4" Scraper on the end of a pole for any awkward stuff; or I just get off what I can with WFP and the rest gets left.

Obviously ground floor windows are done to perfection.

(I feel my spurs jangling about here).

I did a first clean last week, all went well with just WFP until the last window... The stuck on wooden frame collapsed into 3 pieces and fell off!  >:(

Out came the ladder over a sloping porch, managed to put the frame back on. Windows came up well with just WFP though - They were filthy beforehand!

Not normally but tomorrow, I have a 10 bedroom house to clean including the indoor swimming pool.

All been renovated at a cost of £200.000 recently except for the windows which were painted last year and are filthy so I will have to get up close.

Hopefully I will post some fotos tomoz. :)

No, if there bad use detergent or TFR and a stiff vikan cill brush, but dont use stiff brush on self cleaning glass.
