Van insurance premiums rising
« on: March 15, 2011, 05:20:03 pm »
Anybody finding that their van insurance premiums are rising sharply.

I'm only on Third Party F&T but I've seen my premium rise by over 40% to £401. There have been no claims and no changes in circumstances. I'm told that there have been large increases across the board.

I've done quite a bit of shopping around but all quotes are coming in at around the £400 mark.

Is it me or has my insurance company "fleeced" me?

Mine is around £700 a year, that's with 6 grands worth of cover for all my gear, plus protected ncd and fully comp.
Wife just renewed hers, went up over £200,without any claims,so she shopped around and got cheaper

I use towergate http://www.towergateinsurance.co.uk/?utm_medium=cpc&gclid=COqsyN650acCFUdP4QodnByJDg Under £450 fully comp. Still had an increase this year and try getting insurance for a learner driver (£1130) with the expectation of rising another £500 when she passes >:( >:(

I just got a quote for £250 cheaper than with my previous broker (Swinton) using MacGregor Lloyd and the TM is now covered where as before it was just something they were aware of and still ok to cover vehicle.  Happy days :

Everyone is different as far as insurance goes but Aviva Direct were almost half of our renewal quote. They were also more than £400 cheaper than the next lowest.

We were quoted just over £1800 for two vans on any driver over 25. This was for an Aviva policy but via a broker that had been cheapest the previous year.

With Aviva we paid just under £1000 for the exact same policy, that's some serious mark up.

It just goes to show that it is essential to shop around. I always dedicate at least a morning to calling around. It is soul destroying but when you make such a big saving I tend to look at it as paid work!

not looking forward to mine being renewed if they're going up. iirc this year cost me £1300 for the van and that was the bear basics with a random company never heard of. all others were around the £1600 mark or higher.

Last year: Paid £640 on my 2008 6 seater Vauxhall Vivaro with full NCB
This year: Renewal price was £1550!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok I had a very minor prang last month resulting in a cracked bumper but NCB not affected.

Unbelievable.
