is this a 1st? custy wanted to pay more
« on: March 22, 2011, 11:32:58 pm »
Hi havent posted for a while but thought this worth mentioning with all canvassing pricing lately.

i finished house other day and passer by from rd i was working in took an interest and asked for a price on her house. 3 bed semi with ext and conny.
i thought id like 17/18quid , it was quite straight forward despite overall size.
but i said 15quid !
she looked alarmed and said no ill pay you 20 thats just to cheap. shed had previous quotes of 20/25 and 30 but despite this hadnt gotten any reliable wc. jobs booked in and sure ill earn the 2o quid but it was a nice change to have that done when u know u cocked up on the quoted price.  ;D

I went to quote on one a while back and quoted £17 she said £15 i said fair enough, they were dirty and the frames were very green but i thought it will probably be a regular so i can afford to take alittle longer the first time, then she said if i give you £30 will you give the frames a good clean, then she said no that a horrible job ill give you £40 i just agreed and she payed me up front. But that doesn't happen very often but it's nice when it does.

But today i quoted £20 for a house and it should have been £25, but she only gave me the £20 she knew it took a long time and it was a good deal, but i cant complain as i should have quoted more, but we learn from our mistakes.

I have one custy who puts her own price up £2 every year, if only they were all like that.

I took one on recently. Simple trad job. Thought I was sticking my neck out for a tenner.

When I had finished she gave me fifteen and said that is what I was worth!

Still gives me fifteen every time I go.

I've one similar - front only where all the other fronts are £6-£6.50 - she insists on paying £9! And when I was charging £5-£5.50 a couple of years ago she paid £7 and then £8 and now £9.

Lovely!
It's a game of three halves!
