ive a website through www.vistaprint.co.uk    , it was so easy to set up,no speaking to anybody , and its £7 for a month (3 pages)  of which the first month was free and no commitment so you could quit after a month and not pay one penny.  ive been happy with it and have had it about a year and a half. i tweak it about once a month,as i add a new service or drop a service i cant be bothered to do

If you get someone else to do your website, make sure you buy the name yourself.
Only those who risk going too far will truly know how far they can actually go

Have a look at microsoft office live...

http://www.officelive.com/en-GB/

The actual site is free, and you have the option of buying a domain (.com .co.uk .net .org)

Its very easy to create one yourself. Have a look at mine, or BlastAway on here has a microsoft website too.

I paid £10 for 2 years for my domain name, then its cheaper when you renew. But the site is free forever.

You could spend quite a lot of money but it really depends on what your requirements are.  You should always own the domain and the design and content of the site.

If you wish to ad a payment facility to your site so you can process payments from customers then it can get fiddly.

If your just after a simple page you could probably do it yourself.  If your ISP gives you free web space with your monthly package then you could use that.  Buy the domain name (£20 or so for two years) and point it at your page that you host on your free web space.

Some domain suppliers charge a few quid a year to redirect your domain name but not much, £5-10 I think.  Look for a supplier that offers free DNS forwarding if you can find one.

This might be your site address www.myISPfreespace.ISPcompany.com, you then point your DNS setup at that address i.e. www.windowcleaningme.com --> www.myISPfreespace.ISPcompany.com when the user looks for www.windowcleaningme.com they will land at your site and should only see the www.windowcleaningme.com address if the DNS is masked correctly.

If your in "business" with professional companies it's not a great idea as they will spot it and you'll look naf  ;D  But for a window cleaning round with normal customers you'll be fine, I doubt anyone would notice or care.
