I have a slx 30 and it is rigid unless it is at full stretch, even then it is nothing like a fibre glass.

I just unpacked a clx 14 this morning, and now off out to give it a spin. I didnt know that each section of the clx is ribbed.

Does the ribbing wear down over time???
if it is dirty it is fair game

I got a CLX18 and an SLX35, th ;)e CLX is a great pole but when compared to the sLX has far more flex. If i was  to start again i would see if my budget could stretch to an SLX18 because although the SLX i have is 35' i only need it for a few jobs, yet when i do it's a joy to use because it feels so precise  and  then i always think,"i should have  bought the SLX18". Keep on rollin' and learnin'   ;D

Hi Yes
So just adjust the clamps with enough tightness to just stop the pole rotating or collapsing down for your work practice.
The pole consists of 2 layers. The outer layer is the fibre glass section and the inner layer is carbon fibre.
I have had my pole since it was first launched, and I am only now starting to see a couple of sections at the highest wear points starting to change from red to black. (black being the carbon fibre layer)

Enjoy it, its a lovely pole, light and comfortable in your hands.

One tip. Keep a small cloth (face cloth size) in your pocket and give the pole hose a clean when it get dirty in this weather. This will reduce the grit getting between the sections and causing them to jam up and wearing them quicker. In damp weather we usually flush the inside of our poles out every night so get rid of any build up of grit. In the summer when it's dry, we don't usually bother.

Hi Nic

I have the CLX22 and I will try my hardest to stretch the budget for a SLX22 next time.

I have an SLX40 on the van for those odd jobs. The original idea was to split the SLX40 into a SLX25 as my main pole but the length of additional hose became a pain to manage, so went for this CLX. At the same time I got the SLX40 I bought my son Cameron an SLX25 and he uses it all the time.

When comparing both poles against each other, the CLX is definitely more whippy at full stretch, hence the reason for me going for the SLX next time.

Yeh Spruce, i fully agree, i'd  def. go for SLX, i think i'll  put a bit aside each week for it once my CLX has bit the dust :o, and i certainly agree with Gav, their great value and work well. Some mates of mine have Brodex Hydra and they seem to weigh a ton compared with Gardiners, mind you some people seem to like them. I suppose a lot  of things come down to personal preferences in the end as long as there's  quality along with it ;D
