« on: February 27, 2011, 12:16:38 pm »
Hi everyone

Does anyone know if you can operate George system with Apple, as I have purchased an Apple computer.

I have George on my laptop with pda but would like to use on main computer.

I was told there is a programme you can download, anyone done this?

Any help appreciated.

As far as I am aware, it's a no,

I use a web based system, www.collectmyround.co.uk

I can use with mac, iPhone or iPad as all data on central server,
Also no worries about losing laptop etc

If in doubt.....Leave it out !!

You can use it on Wine, at least the desktop part of George you can, I dont know about Pocket George, I never tried to configure that part.

Yes you can use it on wine, but you cannot install palm desktop so no pocket george I'm afraid. I use this to run george on my mac which has wine bundled with it.

I tried using george with crossover, it works well but will not allow palm to work.  So in the end I dual booted the machine so that I could run pocket george.  The dual boot works well, normally it boots as a mac but if you hold down alt on startup it gives you the choice of OSX or Windows.

If you already have a pc there would be little point dual booting the machine though.

The only problem with running windows on a mac is that your mac is then just as vulnerable as a pc.  Many people             (especially me) buy macs for better security, less viruses etc.

Mr B

How long have you been using this system? Have you used any others before this?

Hi Guys

GeorgeOnline is a very inexpensive online system and should have iPhone/iPad support in the next couple of weeks with other phones soon after...

It's at www.george.aworka.co.uk if you want a preview.

Hi Dan

The first mobile version will require an internet connection (due for release on or before 11 March), but the second version should work offline by storing data locally and synchronising when an internet connection is available. I'm hoping to release that with a couple of months.

Chris.

bit steep but i was expecting to pay!

a few times I've had my computer crash / die and have had yo get data retrieved by geeks !

at the time i would have paid anything!

I also use back up fob on my keyring, and copy files to emsil everynow again - just to be sure !!

If this is as good as George was to me in the beginning then I'm all for it!

i know my round automatic in my head, i remember who owes what but i keep no paper record of my accounts.
Just whats on george, and what my accountant cooks at the endof the year to make things look tidy!!

I'M ALL FOR IT. ESPECIALLY WHEN AVAILABLE OFFLINE!!

AT LAST!!
