Help with employing?
« on: February 19, 2011, 09:14:02 pm »
No its been asked before like many posts..

Im now at a point where I just cant cope on my own anymore and run late every month so employing a part timer is a no brainer as it will pay for itself as ill be running ontime but I need too no a few things from those who employe, Im meeting up with a nephew of a friend next week, hes 18 with no experience of window cleaning, I have a canvasser working for me at the minute 2 days a week bringing in a average of a £100 a time (£130 today) so ive got loads of 1st cleans too get through as well as my current custys, I want too do all the 1st cleans myself and not risk a new staff member doing these jobs until they no what there doing, ill need them too start at 2 days a week and add more days as I grow till full time, what I need too no is....

what too start them on a hour too start and what too put it upto once experienced?

what did you do too train them as dont want too just turn up at a job and let them loose?

what terms and conditions too give them?

any bonuses if so what?

Ive got a mate whose been a window cleaner for 7 years trad/wfp who wants too work for me, I was going too take him on but after giving it some thought I thought it best too start with a part timer as my mate will cost me £90 a day 5 days a week but I obviously dont have the work or funds too make this work yet but my aim is too build with the part timer till im in the same position as I am now then I can take my friend on....

If theres any thing else people can advise me on please add...

Chris

iv now got 2 part timers , both deaf and theyre paid just for the time they work - ie -if rain ,no work no pay etc .   my aim is to have them doing full days by end of this year, and i doubt they will ever be able to work alone. even if not deaf, its a hell of a risk, letting a young lad make the decisions such as placing the ladder

i got good advice as much as i could before taking on, and found the insurance was not as pricey as i had feared
