Fitting Fan jets
« on: February 14, 2011, 04:25:03 pm »
Hi, all you fan jet users out there.

Gonna get, but bit of o dilema!

Got blue 40 degree fan jets from varitech a while back was gonna fit to my vikan sill brush (yes the brick ::) )

Frightened i'd screw up and bugger brush; as i understand it use 12mm drill bit; but how far do fans protude out where bristles are 5 or 10mm?

any pics anyone?

Then thought about getting The Super-Lite® Brush Dual-Trim (white bristles) and just get them to fit 40 degree fan jets and keep others as spares.

Now reading doc windows and gls comments on aeriel brush, now thinking of that brush, but do they fit the fan jets r will i have to do?

Frightened of spendinding £50 on a brush then ball5ing it up.

sorry last question, will i get by for now without an aqua-adaptor to turn fans on and off.

With the aerial brush they will pre drill it, but you will have to fit your own jets, this is what I did, it's easy.

they protrude just under 1 cm.  The jets will need tapping in, but its not hard, if they arnt tight enough they will fall out, thats why they need to but tapped in.

Thanks Lee

one thing i forgot and wondered when srubbing the windows is there any chance fans come into contact with the glass, so could cause scratching on the pane?

maybe if you pushed really hard on the brush, but they have plastic tips on them, so they wont scratch even if they do touch.

Hi Lee -

i have fitted several brush heads and the best way is to drill out 12mm dia holes - if you have a vice or workmate - clamp the brush head - i always drill a 6mm hole first this stops the 12mm drill cutting oversize and let the drill cut - dont push hard or it will snatch when breaking thro.

i used to glue them in, but was aggro when wanting to move the jets to a new brush head so i now use a small screw
(cheesehead) located by the side of the jet which stops it turning or pulling out

just a note of caution - if the hole is tight or you have a burr on the metal body and tap it you run the risk of
snapping the plastic jet.

no the jets have never got close to the glass and as plastic can not cause any damage

Thanks Darran, i'm gonna have a go this weekend,

I try'd tapping pencil jets out of old vikan last month with proper punch, put brush in work bench too ::)

Think i will pour boiling water on back of brush to expand plastic (am i mad  ;D)

then tap away with punch.
