Vindictive parking!
« on: February 04, 2011, 08:54:35 am »
Anyone had anybody deliberately park on their hose?

I was cleaning in a quiet residential area,2 houses 30 metres apart no cars around.Went from the first house down to the next.Finished the job, walked back to the van and a car was parked on the hose.Unfortunately  I must of pulled the hose into the road with out realizing it.
It turns out to be the lodger of the property I have just cleaned. So I knock on the door, ask him if it's his vehicle. He replies "yes".I ask him did you not see the hose. His reply"Yes I saw the hose, shouldn,t be in the road, and while your at it sqeegie the water off".I saw red .If he had said "sorry mate I didn,t realize" then no problems.  We had a few choice exchanges and I eventually told him I would be speaking to the owner of the property who i've been cleaning  for 4 years about what had happened.
Anyway an hour later he called with a full apology for his vindictive behaviour!!!

this is why im reluctant to get a van system as ive a lot of very compact work with parking issues.having 100m of hose would be a nightmare.getting caught on everything and trailing it over roads and pathways.i have 40m of extension hose on my trolley and find it great that im not tied to the van!! ;D ;D

by the way ive never had anybody park on my hose in 10 months of wfp!!

Hi Dazmond, yes  I can understand your reasoning behind what you say,I also have alot of terraced town work and in 4 years of WFP  this is the first time this has happened, anyone in the past has realized they,ve parked on the hose and moved their vehicle. But like you say you can leave yourself wide open. You have to make sure your hoses are set out and not impeding the public, use of cones etc.
