« on: November 27, 2009, 09:25:12 am »
I've an old Extracta machine that I want to renovate and use as a spare machine. Where can I buy a cheap vac motor? don't want to spend too much as it will be a machine I will rarely use. :)

Did a search for cheap vac motors on here. Restoremate was suggested. I went to their site and couldnt find any. Do they sell pumps and vac motors?

Thanx

Have just converted my extracta excel from the expensive 7"  motors to the 5" ones , does a good job, motors around £60 from Woodbridge.
Better than £250 from extracta

Yeah I've got the smallers ones on my Alltec machine. They look the same as the ones on my Ninja. The part numbers are different. 117123-29 on Alltec and 116859-13 on Ninja. So are they different??????????/

Any machines with 7.2s in that come in and need replacing, I fit 5.7s. Some steel strip drilled to allow for different spacing on the fixing lugs. The height is about the same and the performance is virtually the same. Just £100 cheaper. And they last longer.

That sounds great but when you go to their website (which is awful) theres no mention of spares let alone motors.

Give them a call. You'll find  that alot of suppliars dont host everything everything they sell on thier website. Specialy things like spares.

I think I'm in need of one, got a bit of water leaking out the exhaust, using a tell tale sign that it's on it's way out.

Not always, I have a chinese vac that has had gallons of water through it and still working over 300 hours later.  First I'd make sure it doesn't suck any more water through the vacs.

If you have water coming out of the exhaust it is not the motor at fault. It will be either a leak where the pipe goes through the tank or a fault with the overfill device.

Ian,

The only way that would happen is if water in the waste tank is somehow getting past the filter and shutoff valve and travelling down the pipe towards the vacs,  usually happens when there is excessive foam in the tank and then the shutoff doesnt work and foam with a bit of water gets down the pipe.

Or maybe you have a loose fitting for the vaccum pipe in the waste tank and water is getting through or a hole in the pipe somewhere ?

Has to be with the waste tank in my mind unless anyone has a better suggestion  :)

Steve
