Soap/detergents
« on: January 15, 2011, 01:30:52 pm »
I hope this doesn't seem a daft question but.........................Had a call yesterday about quoting for upholstery, the lady asked do you use soaps?

I explained that I use an alkaline detergent prespray to losen and lift the dirt and then extract using an acidic rinse to get all that detergent out of the fabric.

It was after this call that I started to think "Is the detergent we use either liquid or powdered in fact a soap"

Whats the differnce between a soap and a detergent?

SOAPS are generally produced with natural food type products. Also making them more biodegradable. Like micro-splitters with a pH of 9 to 10 alkaline, with out the need for harmful chemicals and preservatives.

DETERGENTS are generally made from petroleum products with surfactants, and alcohol chemicals, most detergents are scented, with synthetic and artificial fragrances.

That's why some people have reaction's from washing detergents so use more natural soaps like the fairy brand ect without the harsh chemicals.

Did your convert the call into a ticket?

If not next time explain that you use both systems depending on the customers requirements and the level off soiling ;)
