wfp and streaky windows
« on: January 12, 2011, 11:19:33 pm »
ive been wfp now for nearly 6 years tonight ive had a customer cancel because the windows were streaky .
ive cleaned the windows for the last 6 months , up until yesterday when i cleaned them everything had been ok otherwise im sure they would have informed me .
tonight i get a text message .
dont do my windows anymore at ** bell st as the windows were left streaky , this for a fact i no to be untrue , the customer owes £24 with yesterdays clean and im now going to take the mater further . OK yes its only £24 but im fed up now of being looked at as just a window cleaner .
i run a buissness and not a charity , its ok for the customers to be paid weekly / monthly from there jobs .
BUT why do they look for a excuse not to pay .
streaky windows with wfp dont happen , if they would have said spotted YES  i would agree but streaky come on .
what i really want to no is  ARE THESE CUSTOMERS JUST LOOK FOR A EXCUSE ?
where theres muck theres money

Keep your chin up mate, they are probably skint and just using this as an excuse.

i allways keep mi chin up mate , i just get ped off when they try to blame the workmanship as a excuse . im not bothered about the job its the fact they blame the standard of the work done .
how many wfp users leave streaky windows = nil
if they were spotted then yes i could accept that .
we as window cleaners are just looked at as being a novilty .
theyve allready replaced me , DONT THINK SO  i no personally every other cleaner that works the area and not 1 of them will now go there when they get named and shamed at the cafe in the morning .
some customers make me laugh , this made me laugh more than ever .
STREAKY WINDOWS DONT THINK SO .

If it was me I would have phoned the customer up, asked to go round and check the windows, then if there were any problem windows re-clean them  =  Customer Service.

I would bike it over examine each window with pen and paper , if there is 1 bead or a little bit of spotting i would look at all the windows and explain that the clean is satisfactory , considering you have say 10 windows and you have the top left 1x section effected due to your rubber window seals leaking (which i cant help) but looking at the bigger picture i would ask them there and then "are you happy? 1 window has been effected but overall your windows are clean."

its happened to me once or twice they can do nothing but agree with me, they then realize poop , because of one little bead or spot im about to lose my window cleaner and after 4 months my windows will be rotten and they know its hard to find a decent window cleaner who cleans frames too.

WFP is not a magic wand , same way the mop and blade can leave a line or a streak WFP can leave a bead or a spot, i would explain that and i will give it an extra rinse next time and thank them for informing me. As for her not paying its 3% of the glass effected and its no reason not to pay.....

If anything let her give you the chance to correct the fault
say If your Gardiner forgot to pick up a small pile of leaves you would still pay him right
so she should give you the opportunity fix it.

ofc i would go over it if i felt the fault or the finish was not satisfactory.

Good luck thou i know how you feel sometimes its better just to write it off, and move on im sure we have all written off our fair share ,

Calm down mate, I bet the customer is not as bothered as you are.
Do what you are going to do, but don`t let it wind you up, it will do you more harm than good.

Its interesting use of words. Streaky is something you don't associate with WFP. Spotting, drips runs or just "marks" perhaps but not streaky.

Streaky is associated with trad, dirty scrims etc

I had a customer late last year complain about wfp leaving streaks the last time,.. she's a bit dozy & forgot she'd asked me to do the insides last time so i knew for sure her windows were perfect.
Some ppl are just looking for an excuse to moan & the window cleaner is an easy target. Get your money & drop her.
