carbon filter

how big of a no no would it be to run the ro without a carbon filter

my carbon filter split were it froze and most shops closed for a while.

the carbon filter removed the chlorine so i probably wouldn't be a good idea to run without it.

Don't do it.  Your membranes would be wrecked quite quickly.
If you must produce water before getting a new pre filter, go to DI only as a stopgap.
