Took the plunge into L5 land
« on: December 04, 2010, 05:16:53 pm »
Well , i buckled this afternoon and went and got one , am a bit ashamed about what i paid , but it did come with gas bottle and regulator , but i dont like to wait for stuff , in fact im actually thinking about fitting it in a minute !
I have read most of the threads now and think i have it sorted .......just tell me again though, where in the system should it be cut in , is it TANK , PUMP AND FLOW CONTROL , DI , L5 ,  HOSEREEL ?

Also i need to feel a bit better on the price front , how much is the regulator and how much is a 6 kg bottle and initial deposit of said bottle .

Also is there anything real important about using it for the first time , i mean with regards to purging the heater for the first time , also i notice it says in the book 20-80 psi is the limits , will my pump damage it being as its 100psi , silly Q,s i know , but idont want to kill it before i fire it up !

Help , im itching to fit it !

Yep, you've got the order to connect it all up right.

I've yet to hear of anyone bursting the boiler with too much pressure,.. BUT, reducing the pressure will help your L5 run more reliably. 60psi will still get water to the top of a 100' pole,.. but when you stop water flowing the pump will cut out sooner & stop the heater from overheating. :)

Ive just installed on myself mate and have it after the Di and before the reel.

6kg bottle inc deposit is about £45

regulators are about £10

Feel better?  ;D

As seen in the link above , £250  :o , but minus the £55 for the gas and reg , its £195 , still well over i know but what the heck , the over pay is well covered if i get the work done for just one day , i'll be hot come monday and may do a full week because of it , if i was cold i may not work for a week , hmmmm im doing the maths and i think i may have made the right choice !

Anyway , just hit my first install prob , my poxy wheelarch means i have to raise the bottle 8inches , this makes the gas pipe too short to get to the heater , do i lengthen the gas supply or site elswhere , i have another option but it seems to be too close to the heater , is there a gap requirment ?

To be honest , if you look after your own system , water wise i mean , there should be no need for any one to fit it for you , im only at a dead end at the mo as i dont want to site it all and find out that the bottle is too close to the heater !
If you do ring him let him know who passed you on , and it may pay you to source your own gas as post will be mega , and he said a discount will be given for the no gas option , if enough people buy then i reckon he will give good discounts in future as he moves a lot in the caravaning circles .
