I have decided this week to try fan jets . i have always rinsed off the glass but i am always looking to see if and where i can improve so after reading a few post i bought some blue fan jets off gardiner pole systems and fitted them to one of there super lite dual trim mono brushes. ( slightly modified it by removing some of bristles so only the very top two rows of bristles are in contact with the glass above the jets ) . I have been trying only on glass im confident will come up perfect so far and on the ones i have checked all but 2 have been ok , the 2 ones that werent had small spots which look like i may have had a dirty brush, not bad but like i said noticeable at the top of th window. What i really want to know is what pressure do the rinse on guys use on there varistreams. mine is digital and i have been using 55. Any help much appreciated

Hi wiz - sorry don't have a digital - still have a dial varistream, basically turn up flow rate to at least 3/4 ( peronally i would go to max - then work down over time )

when doing the window scrub frame and glass then before rincing i line the brush up with top of the glass and move back and forth 2/3 times (with slight pressure on the brush then swiftly bring the brush down the glass sweeping side to side on large windows with the brush just resting on glass

your spotting is more likely from not giving the frames a good scrub than off the bristles.

I don't use any controller so a high flow is what I use and do as Darran says

thank you , i didnt think i was using enough pressure and you have confirmed that.
do you wipe the sills after every window or once you have cleaned all the upstairs windows first.  all upstairs windows at the front cleaned then wipe sill if you get what i mean.

on upstairs I turn flow off and wipe the sill with a dry brush on each window as I do them, you need either a tap/auto brush/aqua adaptor/trigger or some other way of turning of to do this

If any of you who use your pumps without a flow controller, But have previously used on, what do you think the vari stream would be on to be at the same output as an uncontrolled one. I have a varistream with numbers 1-9 and boost on. Would number 9 be the same as an unrestricted pump, or will that  be boosting the pump? (if you know what I mean)

cheers stu, I have it on 5 at moment for rinsing on glass. I will give it a whirl on 9 tomorrow to see how it goes, It will be blasting out though. So I suppose I will have to work a lot faster

that is the point you spend less time building up a flow of water down the glass so you work faster

Would you use fan jets with brush off the glass on windy days?

I'll stick to pencil jets with brush fully on glass so minimising splashing water anywhere else but where it is meant to be.

Tried fan jets and prefer pencil jets anyday.

No benefit from using fan jets on hydrophobic or hydroglobic glass in comparison to pencils. They're no quicker than pencils with brush on and pull the water down rather than waiting for weight of water flow to sheet down the glass.

At least brush on method catches stubborn dirt particles on the way down the glass.

No I do not brush off glass with fans in any weather, never mind windy weather!
I do not think there is a great saving of time on none sheeting glass, But I prefer it to rinsing off glass with pencils, and do believe its slightly quicker on sheeting glass. Everyone works differently though.

Chopsie - is your variflow the 'older' dial type ?  mine has a max and boost with various marks around the dial but no numbers 

i have it set between 3/4 and max so my guess is 8 to 9 on the scale
