The Master Guild of Window Cleaners

What does "Rutilus Fenestra Eternus" on the crest of the mgwc mean?

Literally as a "dog latin" translation it seems to say "Red Windows Forever" or even "Roach (as in Fish) Windows Eternally!"  ;D

Please tell me the whole phrase means something more poetic! I suppose at a stretch it could be "Golden (Auburn) Windows Evermore!"

Nathanael please enlighten me!

Wow! Rutilus = shiny? That is a stretch even via Golden!

I would have thought nitidus as in polished or shiny would be better...

LOL,.. the joys of online translators!

Just checked a few & some say shiny, some say red!

We'll have to have a vote & see if members want to change the tagline!

Perhaps ask someone who knows latin? As a phrase can have a different translated meaning to the individual words.
