All local and handy on your existing rounds i presume? That'll be the website your wife just recently made for you, and registered in February this year? So lets see,March,April,May,June,July,August,September,October thats eight months x 4 = 32 weeks roughly@ 3 customers a week then you've got 96 customers through your website. Have you really?
Just done a quick google, its lucky that you paid for that advertising to come on the top other wise you don't really come in the rankings/listings for your area. Touch local you are fifth, you window cleaners on the south coast must be a busy lot !!!

So, what's the problem, Mike?  I did pay for the advertising.  Why not?  It's paid for itself several times over.  Why be so dismissive?  Do I earn less from paid advertising than from search results via touchlocal?  A tiny bit on their first clean, then they are as good as any other.

Overall the web brings in by far my cheapest acquisition cost business.

Vin

I have a totally different experience Vin, so i can only say how me and a few others have found it. If it works for you then great. Its safe to say it would be last on my list of marketing options.

Google Adwords can be a terrible money pit or a beautifully tailored cheap way of getting customers onto your website.  I wouldn't pay anyone a penny to do it for me: all I know I worked out for myself and it's transformed the business I get from the web.

So, to some extent I agree - it might not be the first step, but it's definitely up there for me.

Hi guys

2 things i will be looking to do in new year are van signage and a website (already leaflet drop and door knock) but my question to fish for thoughts ideas that you guys use and seem to be successful with would be?..........

are there any good sites worth listing with free and/or chargeable - for example

good ways to create interest in lcients ringing up would be much appreciated and real helpful... look forward to giving up some part time work to be full time.

 :)

please also see other topic re working referrals

you dont need to market the world
to get the smallest amount of cash you need to live and the number of customers you need
when you have that go from there

leaflets and leg work!!!
1.work out how many customers you want
2.leaflet leaflet then leaflet some more.
3.do a top class job for the customers you get from the leaflets. Do more than is expected of you.
4.watch the customers roll in.
hope this helps.
Point 3 is the most important.
You will get to a point where you will all the customers you want and will not have to keep repacing them if you get point 3 right.
websites are great if
1. you provide a terrible service and need to keep replacing customers
OR
2. you provide a great service and want as many customers as you can get, start employing people etc etc.
happy cleaning

What  must be remebered not all forms of marketing lead to firm business, but do different thinks to contribute to ones success. We might knock on a door pitch our service and the customer is not totally sold on you r service and could turn to your web site to confirm you a correct one to supply there service. There are many influences to clinching the deal.
