had my first week with the WFP, thought I was doing a good job until I went to collect and a customer dropped me because of spotting. I cleaned the windows and frames thoroughly and rinsed them aftrwards but there was spotting on the windows, how can I make sure this doesnt happen again?

First cleans are always the worst , i do the windows twice,...

then i go round and check that all the water droplets on the glass are central, and not  coming down in a line , or spotting from the top frame.

If there is a line of water i simply rinse the glass again, avoiding the frame.,

Or in some cases wash the whole of the top frame again,,,, depending on wether it continues after the inspection rinse.

Also you MUST tell your customers that spotting may occur on the first clean due to dirty water under the seals dripping after you have gone,

tell them its rare but may happen, nearly all of them will be fine and accept this.

It also a good idea to drop an explanation letter in ,

print this and try it .  ;)

The Water Fed Pole System

Dear Customer,

Your windows will be cleaned shortly using a method that will soon become the industry standard – The Water Fed Pole System
The system uses extendable poles and 100% pure water that has been purified through reverse osmosis & de-ionization vessels.

We are now using this technology for a number of reasons:

1). BETTER CLEANING RESULTS – The major advantage of pure water is that it absorbs large amounts of dirt from your windows. The process involves brushing your windows clean with pure water; as such they will be left wet and will need time to dry naturally. This may be a bit disconcerting at first, as obviously this is not what our customers are used to. However, once dry your windows WILL be clean and smear free.

2). HEALTH & SAFETY – A new legislation from Europe now limits the use of ladders. The law now states that ladders can only be used when all viable alternatives have been considered, and now The Water Fed Pole System is seen as a safer and more viable alternative for window cleaning.

3). ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY – Only pure water is used, eliminating the need for detergents and chemicals.

4). IMPROVED SERVICE – We can now reach with ease previously inaccessible aspects of your property. Hard to reach windows above conservatory’s, Third floor windows, skylights, etc…

Please note that if your windows have been cleaned in the past using detergents or chemicals it may take 2 or 3 visits using our Water Fed Pole System to remove soapy residue, this may result in minor spotting on your windows. However please be assured that once this is cleared you will be more than happy with the results.

My aim is to continue to provide a high level of service. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns regarding the above or any other aspect of our services.

Dead easy, its a royal pain in the ass but its easy.
1) if the customer is in and its a first clean..........do job, then pull them out and get them to 'come and look at this', show them what you have just done. Explain that the pure water doesn't need drying off and it leaves a clear finish. Then say, you have just scrubbed the frames out of all dirt etc and some if it may run after you have gone. If it does, just ring me and i'll call back and put it right. I've never had a call to come back yet.
2) if the customer is not in and its a first clean........
ring them that evening, ask if they're happy with the job and is everything ok. Same dance again, explain you scrubbed the frames right out and cleaned them and you where concerned if any dirt had run down from their dirty frames.
Thats my method, i don't get any complaints and don't lose customers because of wfp. Help them understand it, show them you care they have clear windows, you'll have a customer as long as they can afford to keep paying you.

The customer has already done this. A bit harsh I think, dropping you.
Did you offer an explanation or offer to rectify the problem?
It doesn`t sound like a good customer to me anyway.

i did a house yesterday in and out.the outside were very dirty, haven't been done since 2006.i cleaned the frames and glass first then came and did the glass again.when i went to do the inside the windows were almost dry.they were spotless except some bird muck on a windows that didn't want to shift .but no runs.wfp does work from first clean you just have to scrub and rinse like mad.

Thanks for all the advice, I agree the customer was a bit harsh dropping me so quickly, I didnt charge her and ofered to do them again so I think I'm better off without that type. Thanks for the pro-former explanation, I will print it out and use it this week. I'm off to rinse, rinse, rinse, cheers, Mike.
