static or ro in van
« on: December 26, 2010, 10:39:28 pm »
hi i currently have an ro in my garage that fills my 1000ltr tank.

however i am looking to move house and rent, should i look for somewhere with a garage or have a new ro fitted in my van .
 only thing is brodex want to charge me 1500 quid to fit a 20 inch ro for my 500 ltr system.

my existing ro is too small to use and wouldnt fill the tank quick enough, thats why i leave it slowly filling my tank in the garage and then transfer it into my 500ltr tank.

 unsure if i should look for somewhere with a garage and stick to what i already have or not bother with a garage and have ro installed in the van. your advice please??????

IMHO u need to rent a house with a garage and keep ur static setup

why ?
1. RO can work when ur working all u have to do is transfer water
2. Less chance of expensive RO freezing in winter
3. More flexible ... run out of water then all u have to do is nip home for a top up

I would say stay with the static unless of course you can save a large amount of money each week in rent by just having a drive and no garage.  Most window cleaners will be better off with a static system maybe a few who have massive commercial contracts a long way from base would feel otherwise.

If you did decide to go in van than you could do a proper 4040 setup diy for a lot less than 1500.

Simon.

I'm in a same situation,planning to move to flats as house with a garage/back garden costs more.

I've been going round to farms to talk to the owners about having a IBC water tank in their barns or somewhere.

But i don't know how much i should offer to pay each month? 100 pounds a month? Some of them are on water meter so have to install a water meter to the RO and pay for what i use extra.

I'm also thinking about going to small industrial estates/business parks to talk to the unit owners,probably mechanics,plumbing suppliers etc.
