JUST ABOUT TO BUY NEW HOSE - ADVICE PLEASE
« on: September 25, 2005, 05:30:17 pm »
Before I make a bad purchase of a 50 mtr length of yellow hose 12.5mm. -

What hoses are you guys using that have been successful?

Looking for anti-kink and the ability to lay on the ground nicely.

Any comments and detail of the supplier will be apreciated.

Thanks in advance

John

ps. Would also be interested to hear from anyone using 50 mtr lengths of yellow 6mm hose and if so - what make and supplier?

Thanks William,

I have seen some green with a yellow stripe in B&Q - will look out for the one with white stripe.

I was originally going for yellow as I've read its best from a Health & Safety view - so people a can see it etc.

Not sure noe  ???

I've got 50metres of the green anti kink from B & Q and 100 metres of 12.5 mm clear braided - same as the 6mm brush supply hose.

The 100 metres is the best hose I have ever used - bombproof but costly at £120.00.

The supplier was a local company who sourced it in for me so no details of supplier.

Midas is the 12.5 mm braided the measurement for internal or external diameter?

Thanks Lee

I bought the no torsion from b+q and have also got the cheap green stuff and have not had any problems with it at all.

Tricoflex. Shop around, nursery supply companies are good. A friend of mine got 100m for £48 + vat. Cheap hose will drive you insane!

Thanks for all your replies.  Tricoflex seems to be the name that crops up most often on the various forums.  I was hoping that someone might have come up with a smaller bore yellow hose that was suitable - 6mm to 8mm internal.  I realise that 6mm is normally only used for the last section but I recently used 25 mtrs of 6mm clear all the way from trolley to brush and still had plenty of pressure.

If there was a yellow 6mm or 8mm equivalent to Tricoflex 12.5mm or similar, it would suit me fine.

Thanks again

John

Hi Mary  ;D

Thanks for your interest but no - only buying a hose.   Mind you, if oil prices keep going up, we may be able to buy a house for the cost of a roll of hose soon!   ;D
