Although it may seem a bit distastful to think this way, like a bad winter, the economy is going to kill off the weak, leaving more for those that survive.

Some people are not cut out for business and some people are not prepared to change. In many ways the last few years has been too easy for people.

Quite often what you think is the worst thing that can happen in the long run turns out to be best, maybe carpet cleaning is a dying trade and those left will have a worse time than those who are forced out. Who knows.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

Having only just started in August it has been up and down for me. Fully booked for next week, had 3 bookings in the last 24 hours.  Most of the jobs I am getting also tend to be full houses, not getting any small jobs at the moment, down side don't I know it at the end of the day.

I usually get quite a few bookings for the last week of the month, but next week I only have two jobs at the moment. That is the worst since I started. I just hope the phone rings tomorrow and the beginning of next week or it will be pretty grim.

Had someone blow me out this morning as well, which I needed like a hole in the head.

Isn't it strange that when people cancell its always due to anything other than the real reason >:(

This person didn't even bother to phone and cancel. Just left her "cleaner" to tell me when I got there that the customer apparently emailed me the night before to cancel, but I hadn't replied!

Checked emails the night before and on the morning of the job and there was nowt. Begs the question: why not phone me if I didn't reply to this non existant email?

Should have seen it coming really as she'd cancelled on two previous occasions as it was.

Bloody timewasting idiot.

Send them a cancelation fee notice.

Dont think you can inforce it but they might pay  :) and if they dont, well you dont want them as customers anyways.

very up and down but i dont tend to let it bother me and tend to refer to the year as a whole and my T/O has consistantly been increasing each year by around 50-75% . use the quieter times to review your business strategy chop change and adjust. if i have an empty day i make it my goal to find something constructive to do business related.

I personally think the next couple of years are going to be very tough as everyone has to tighten there purse strings to pull us out of the mess the last gov got us in but if you can make a go of it in these times then the future will be bright.

ps tip of the day you dont have to wait for the phone to ring go and find the work bng on doors , drop leaflets , mail shots, email market. plenty to do if you let the quieter times bog you down you will struggle to find the motivation POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE is the key

Hi Guys

Richard I was doing a job in Wickford, Essex and the jeep type car in front had Basey Fisher from Beccles on it, can't be too many with that name?

As for business until you have a large enough customer base and have cracked the best places to advertise CC's will always be up and down.

Us established guys have gone beyond the critical mass and are always busy to very busy.

Keep at it.
Cheers
