Upholstery cleaning?
« on: October 21, 2010, 12:49:39 am »
Any tips? I did this one recently just applying cc techniques. It was going into the skip during an EOT clean. The property agent was on the fone ordering a new one when I piped up and promised her I could get this one brand new again. Silly promise but she has'nt gone anywhere else since.

I would never promise that, your come unstuck very quickly making promises like that. anyway the piping is damaged, a good result though.
I prefer the customer to be amazed by down playing the outcome, rather than expecting it

Get some hot Ultrapac renovate on it brush in, leave 10 mins and rinse with Premium clean, should do the job to a better standard, dont worry about damaging it as its gonna get replaced anyway.

A good job, having a laugh, its patch and a poor result, as posted above, nappying or other method, just proves HWE is not the total answer to cleaning, as are other methods, not the total answer

whats nappying !!!!!

cant actually believe you asked :(

its where u roll up your sleeves and use a bit of elbow grease to clean upholstery rather than spray and extract, but to be honest just leave the elbow grease aye........suite looks bad enough as it is :)

Fabric restorer and some strongarm brushing would make a drastic improvement.

I'll name that sofa in one ;D
DFS special circ 2000, and I should know we used to have one exactly the same :D
Easy peezy to clean, any method will get these cleaned albeit I doubt any of us could do it in the 15 minutes that Ideal Rob would do it in ;D

Must say it does look a bit patchy which isn't in keeping with the promise to make it brand new again, but as it's an agency job I doubt they would pay the price to make this or any other 10 year old furnishing look new again. But all the same you've got your point across that buying a new one wasn't a requirement this time.

fitz/mark, i'm still now wiser as to the method of cleaning that is 'nappying'. if your saying that you just use a terry towel and rub it, how does that clean it when the material is in that state?

Hi Joe, I have some Strong Arm in my garage and won't use it on soft furnishings as it smells too much of solvent for me.
