Can anyone tell me why some cleaning business's insist on using there own chemicals rather than the clients??? because all the houses i clean insist on me using theirs.  I have no problem with it but i just wondered why?

hi there,

COSHH data sheets, are readily available for the chemicals if you supply them.

if the client runs out of chemical you cant clean

also companies will make money on the chemical aswell as the cleaning service

There's definately a legal issue here.

The users of the materials i.e. your cleaning staff should have access to COSHH data sheets for all materials they use. Do your Clients supply these? It's in your interests to ensure that they do. If one of your cleaners has an accident involving chemicals and no COSHH Data sheets are available, where will it leave you?

A lot poorer I suspect.........as no insurance company will pay out if you haven't followed the legal requirements.

Is a legal requirement to have the COSHH sheets available at all times. Even where we stock them in our cleaning cupboard at the office, we are required to have copies of all COSHH sheets. Even have to have them in the vans carrying the supplies too.

So i would insist that your clients produce the COSHH sheets for you where you are working.
