My experience using an aqua-daptor
« on: September 14, 2010, 08:23:37 pm »
I was a little uncertain at first whether this product would work and benefit my business. I decided to give it a try and placed my order.

Arrived two days later, it is a very well made piece of kit. The hose appeared thicker than I use and seemed to have a life of its own.

Very easy to fit, took me 5 minutes. I was apprehensive of cutting my pole, but there was no need to be.

First day of use took a little getting use to, I think sometimes I was too gentle trying to pull the hose and so did not always work, however, after several goes got the hang of  turning on and off easily. The hose was also much better than I expected, whilst it still coiled up when gathering up to put away, this actually made it quicker and easier putting pole back in van.

Now been using for several days and most defiantly would recommend it. It is a great bit of kit which when attached to the pole, you don’t know it is even there. It did not really add much weight if any to my pole as I had a long metal collar on my pole which I cut off and replaced with aqua-daptor.

Does it save water, does it save time?  In my case most defiantly yes, not huge amounts but enough to make it worthwhile.

Advantages to me:

1.   Instantly turn water on and off whenever needed: I did not realise how many times customers interrupt you while cleaning 1st floor windows, wanting to pay or ask a question, before I would either let water carry on flowing or have to stop and disconnect, now just pull hose.
2.   Sometimes bird mess needs quite a bit of a scrub but not loads of water, now I can turn water off easily and scrub with brush then easily turn back on.
3.   No more wet leg!!!  When you disconnect your pole hose any water left in the pole hose tends to run out of end of hose, wasting water and sometimes ending up either on your leg or in your shoe! With the aqua-daptor when turned off the water remains in hose!

So impressed with aqua-daptor I have now ordered another 3 to fit on all our poles both short and long so all my team can use them.

A great product, that works like it is meant to with excellent customer back-up from Paul.

i ordered one a while ago - havent used it yet as i was waiting for my clx.

strange you say about the pole hose as my clx as just arrived and the pole hose is the same as the aqua dapter ....

but with this hose that came with the pole - its not all coilded up, im gonna guess the hose from aqua dapter is coiled up because of the way its been stored (taped & coiled up) so im guessing the hose from aqua dapter will calm down and sort itself out after a while.

Can somebody post some pics of the aqua-dapter please, i'm intrigued.

I currently use taps on the end of the micro-bore hose which I hook through my belt when working. Trouble is with these, the rectus fittings leak very easily and are expensive to replace. Gets uncomfortable in the winter.

Cheers,
Lance

Hi Darren,

We supply 10m of hose as standard with every Aqua-dapter.  Outside diameter is 8mm, inside diameter is 5.5mm.

I bought 1 for a trial period with the intention of fitting to all 12 poles if it was any use.

I intentionally fitted it to the most savage guys pole to see if it was "Dave-proof". I had concerns with build quality and generally "plastic-y-ness" of it.

I also had to modify my Brodex 3yg so the aqua-dapter would fit (the pole and the aqua-dapter were the same diameter).

After 1 day:

Dave returns and says its great, the only issue is running 2 poles off 1 pump, when you turn it off the other pole gets more water. Still appears to be saving water though.  :)

After 1 week:

Dave complains that the pipe pops off the bottom of the aqua-dapter. I contact manufacturer and realise I have missed a part of the set up, a small plastic insert to stop this happening. Sorted.  :)

After 1 month:

The aqua-dapter is now goosed. There is a spring which has came out rendering the mechanism useless. My original concerns about durability seem to have been proved right. the main issue I think is that the tap mechanism is on the outside making it vulnerable to knocks etc.

Conclusion:

Great concept needs improvement. I would happily use it myself but putting it on an employee's pole is risky because it aint cheap.

We haven't heard from you about this.  Please contact us (via your account messages is best) and we'll make sure it's sorted out.

The tap 'arms' are on the outside to enable it to be turned manually for ground floor windows, but you've said it's a spring that is the problem, rather than the tap?  Whatever the problem, we'll get it resolved if you contact us.

My spring snapped on the hook part.

I'll email when aqua dapter get the new version so I can have my replacement spring as I can't get my hands on a replacement spring in an ironmongers shop local to me. I've stopped using the pole and it's sitting in my shed gathering dust now. Gone back to using a tap taped on my pole again.
