constantly adjusting sl-x clamps
« on: August 31, 2010, 11:38:48 pm »
i am forever constantly adjusting the sl-x clamps on my pole, and just when i think it is perfect, when i go to extend it, the section sticks, then i have to loosen it of, a real pain sometimes, especialy when your extending to 30ft, i am starting to think, hot weather affects the clamps, on cool days the clamps are fine, anyone else get this with their clamps, do i need to oil them or something

I find I need to adjust them whenever the weather changes. I think it's just down to expansion of the joints with heat, as I tend to have to tighten them when it's warm and loosen them in the cold.  My take on that is that I can't buck the laws of physics.

Does that seem to fit in with the problem you're having, or is there more to it than that?  Keeping the sections cleaned inside and out helps with sticking, as well.

Same here, if the bolts aren't loosening themselves then it's probably the pole wearing in one place all the time. As soon as you extend off the worn bit the clamps are to tight to close on the lesser worn part.
