if they say "no thanks not in this weather" i explain to tham (again, since i would have already explained this to them when i first started cleaning there windows)

i garentee any work i do for 48 hours regardless of the weather i work in, plus rain water will not affect the clean, dirt gets windows dirty not rain per se' (sure rain can pull dirt out the air and from other sufaces)

look at it this way if you have adirty wondow and i clean it then it rains its still relativly clean, plus im full time so i need to make this job pay!

and finally if they insist they still dont want them doing i mark them down with a strike. 3 stikes and there dumped!

surely you dont sit it out?

Yes, most people do. Take a look next time its chucking it down and see who's out in the fields working, out on the building sites working, and where the BT engineers are generally sat.

Cleaning windows in waterproofs is just sooo last year. If you cant make enough now you're WFP without stopping for the odd spell of inclement weather then you need to look at your business's efficiency.

GB ITS ALL RUBBISH!ive had loads of so called "breathable" waterproof jackets!and ive never found one that doesnt make you sweat a lot and most dont keep you dry from the rain either! ::) ::)

do i work in heavy rain?i have done on occasions if im half way round a house and i just want to get done and get home.usually if its heavy ill shelter in the van or a customers kitchen (with a brew!)and then crack on when it eases!

if its domestics then i sack it off if its persistently heavy(esp if windy as well!).ive worked in blizzards/gales/rain/sleet/snow if its commercial work im cleaning though!!

domestic custies(mine anyway!)i usually ok with me working in the rain even heavy rain from time to time but if their the big posh country houses that are well priced i tend to wait until it eases off a bit.

i have used berghaus paclite jkts , and over trousers for 2 yrs now, i use them in summer and winter , in summer, i zip the bottom of my craghoppers trousers ( to convert to shorts), then put on over trousers , jkt goes over polo shirt , they are very breathable , and totally water proof, can work all day in rain , summer or winter , and stay comfortable, but they are expensive , and not many will part  with the cash.

have tried all types of so called breathable fabrics , and nothing beats a good set of gortex water proofs. ;)

Light rain is when your turnover is down.
Medium rain is when you need cash for luxuries. Otherwise stay in bed.
Heavy rain is when you are lazy and don’t feel like work.

I only work if the temperature is between 12 and 17 degrees C in dry conditions, no showers forecast and no wind above number 1 on the beaufort scale. Oh, and only between 10am and 3pm.

This is how much work I get done:-

January    nil
February  nil
March       1 day
April          3 days
May          4 days
June         1 day
July           nil
August      nil
September 2 days
October      1 day
November   nil
December   nil

Fortunately I earn £1000 a day and so earn enough to claim tax credits and benefits to top up my income.
