FACIA CLEAN PICS
« on: August 22, 2010, 12:24:49 am »
seen gavin pedleys post re his 1st facia clean and wondered if thers a few oof you that could post your pics of jobs youve done and how you did them - i have made the  mistake possibly of wfping from the ground on two jobs and fear after reading threads in gavins post that the dirt behind the gutter will bite me in the arse.

yet to look into the regs and costs of the ladders ie courses/certificate increase in insurance etc?

anyone ? - please submit some pics of cleans as looking to improve.

thanks guys

Yes after reading some peoples replies i must admit i am a littl worried but i have already agreed the job so will just have to go for it. even got to struggle with my hefty brodex pole as gardiners are a nightmare to get hold of they could of had 250 of my notes but hey.

Anyway i am pretty much dreading this job and its my first  :(

i think pics would be good for some of us just starting out etc

ive always cleaned gutters and fascias from the ground wfp
never a problem my superlite brush gets into all the brackets
and reasonably far behind the gutters.

i dont use tfr just pure water and if any black marks left behind
which is rare,i just tell the customer they are stains due to not having
their plastics cleaned on a regular basis

i dont see all the fuss i have never had one complaint and do
repeat work yearly

ignore the ladder jockeys just take your time ,if its your
first gutter clean and it takes a couple of hours or more it doesnt
matter just do the job right.

its much like cleaning windows the more you do the
better your technique will get which will improve your
confidence in what you are doing and your speed will improve.

if you are really worried and need pictures,do a search
for posts by jouk or jeff 1 who  is a real expert at the
gutter cleans and he put all sorts of pictures on here

I did my first full second storey gutter and fascia clean last week.  It came up perfectly well from the floor with a superlite brush head.  You can work well round the brackets and get deep enough at the back.

Put it this way, the customer paid £98 for the gutters and a window clean and was overjoyed, which is what counts.

As regards comments ref ladders vs poles, what we have on this site is a set of very entrenched opinions.  Neither side can see the other's viewpoint.  You'll never hear a WPFer saying that someone up a ladder might well do a slightly better job in some cases or vice-versa.  All you'll hear is that the other way is utterly useless and that you'd be barking mad to try it as it'll be the worst job ever and you're an offence to the human race for ever suggesting it could be done your way.

In my opinion, what matters in the long run is whether the customer is happy, whether you're up a ladder or standing on the floor.

Use the poles, it'll be fine.

You would do a better job off a ladder because you are up close and get all the dirt out behind gutter, but saying that we do all ours from the ground,I did one a year ago it's still spotless now
