Some clown around my way doing cheap carpet cleans - £10 for average room WTF ??? Turns out this clown does it part time as he has a full time job. I had my normal CC in yesterday to do me stairs and got talking about him, turns out he has been in to the local estate agents with crazy prices and the estate agent prefers my CC but at the other guys prices. Fisty cuffs soon me thinks.

It's quite possible to run part time but you'd need to charge sensible prices if you are to make a profit.

At £10 a room I doubt he's paying tax, insurance and probably cleaning with water!

I run part time and want to go full time soon,I charge proper rates and do thorough cleaning, not everyone who is part time is a clown/cowboy.

I need to take the plunge as CC is what I want to do but when you have a regular income - although a small one giving it up takes some thinking about.

I find I get 5/6 calls over 2 days then nowt for 4 days then maybe another 2.I guess this is what being self employed will mean then.

The more accessible and established a service is, the less random and more consistent the phone calls will be. It's harder to get to that point if you are occupied elsewhere.
