3x 25 ft hoses - Prochem Powermax
« on: May 26, 2010, 10:50:11 pm »
Hi

What are your thoughts on using 3x 25 foot lengths of hose off a Prochem Powermax?

Comments welcome.

Thanks

Grant

It will work, but there will be a loss of solution pressure and reduced vac  but still workable.
2 x 25ft hoses much better .

If its a twin vac you should be ok.

Single Vac I would say 50ft max.

Hi

Not ideal but just do more dry passes & use an air mover.

Better than killing yourself taking it upstairs.

Hi,
i quite often run 2 x 25ft off my powermax with very little loss in suction . 3 may lose you some but not much i think. I also think you may take a few more seconds to get the the heat through if like me you have the in line heater.

Cheers Ben.

You will only loose vaccum power not psi, i would use 50ft max, unless you have 1400w vacs fitted and not the 1200w standard.

IMO any twin vac machine looses too much performance beyond 50ft.

On long hose runs, vacuum lift (suction) will not be affected to any appreciable degree but because of the "weight" of the extra air being pulled on long hoses, combined with the frictional losses, cfm loss will be considerable.

Pump delivery follows the same rules. Psi will not be affected, but flow rate will be significantly compromised over longer hose runs. More so if running upstairs.

All of this means that longer hoses will deliver less water, so rinsing action is reduced, and cfm reduction means that water/soil is evacuated at a slower rate.

Slower or more passes will be required for rinsing and slower dry passes too.

50ft of hose on a porty will clean a pretty large house. Even with my van mounted system, I rarely need more than 75ft with 50ft of hose being the norm.

Safe and happy cleaning :)

Thanks for all the comments, I use the Steempro Powermax, twin standard vacs, the in line heat n' run and regularly use 2x 25 ft hoses with good lift and quick drying times. But sometimes need an extra 15 feet or so for the occasional third floor landing and top room eg. family room or kids playroom, got stuck on Monday and really had a problem cos it was difficult to take the machine closer.

Another solution is to park machine outside and drop hose through the window.

But you need to be sure you do not breajk any of the lower floor windows as you lower or raise hose.

Did Ground and floors 1, 2 and 3 of an house last week and 50 foot length nearly did it.
Had to put a 25 on just for the room at the top.
