Setting up for the first time
« on: October 28, 2010, 07:39:22 pm »
Hi guys,

Ive been in the cleaning industry for over ten years  just doing general cleaning, and have decided to branch out and do carpets as i have done this and have enjoyed.

I was due to buy a very expensive carpet cleaning franchise as i fancied having some support, but have backed out of this as the contract wasn't to my liking and realised the cost of kit was over inflated.

So i have decided to go it alone and at the research stage. I had my heart settled for a Prochem steempro powermax, (which i have used before). But have been looking at my competition in the area and have found one company that uses truckmounts in the van, and describe the portable machines as rubbish and sub-standard, and wont remove soil in carpets.
I know that this must not be true, but i really want to be the best in my area, and are they really so much better then the Prochems etc??

When im a bit further on in the stages, would someone with a truckmount be happy for me to work with them for a few days perhaps (free of charge) as i don't know much about these machines.

Im from Buckinghamshire

Thanks Richard ;)

I would go on a training course, yes everyone says that! but you will learn while talking to other cleaners and finding out what's good for you !

Isn't there the Big Clean near you Surrey? they do courses as do Cleansmart in Nottingham.

Extraction is only part of the process, its not a magic wand. The man gets the result. Professionals work up to a truck mount for speed and reliability, they need to have a good portable too. Do the course and practice.

Thanks Neil for your advice, i can't get enough of it at the moment! ;)
Im planning on going on as many courses as i can. Beginning to realise that although there is a lot of job satisfaction and skill to learn, there is also a hell of a lot of competition, so i want to be able to sell myself as being the best in someway.
