Got the fan jets sussed !
« on: May 26, 2010, 11:35:52 pm »
Hi all,

Last 2-3 days and after reading much debate on this forum re. pencil jets versus fan jets - i have been using my Vikan 11" mono brush with fan jets (blue in colour ??)

I have been using the rinsing technique now with the bristles lightly on the glass (flow control set high at 8) and have got it down to a fine art - it has made me about 25% faster i reckon (and i thought i was quick before )

The fan jets clearly work at their best by keeping the bristles lightly on the glass and this stops any over spray.

Have checked windows after cleaning and no spotting or complaints as yet.  I think Peter Fogwill mentioned its all about having the confidence in your technique and be able to walk away from the window after rinsing without any doubts.

I am now going to fit fan jets to most of my other brush heads too.

Just got rid of all my fan jets , apart from 1 that i use for plastics. Prefer pencils on glass for some reason!

Stick with it even if you encounter a problem.  25% faster means lots more money, or much less time working.

Rinsing ON the glass is the key with fan jets. I might try mine again at some point.

25% faster is very good.

Did you check every single window once they had dried, even got the ladder out and checked upstairs? ?That must have taken you 3 times as long ??? If you didn't then your "no spotting" can unfortunately only be an assumption after "2-3 days"

John, the same can be said about every window you have done in the last 2-3 days, unless you done the above.  You don't have to carry that procedure out to know the windows are up to the usual standard.

the only way you will know if the windows are good, is when you clean the insides, nothing gives you more confidence than cleaning insides, and seeing a spot free window.

agreed i did a small commercial today that can be troublesome with milky runs from the top frame but i rinsed on then did the insides and they are spotless
