Blazer issues
« on: May 30, 2010, 10:02:11 am »
Morning CIU people

I must start by expressing that I have a job to know which end of the screwdriver to use! Ok that said, I have a few things that need sorting on my blazer

1/ On the front of the demand pump, the small cylinder bit has sprung a small leak, spoke to Prochem and they said replace the whole demand pump, £495 + vat.............Surley not, it looks like a gasket or something simple.

2/ Have a few problems with chemical metering, doesnt seem to be working, again something simple me thinks.

3/ Buying a new van in a few weeks and want to move Blazer into it. Anyone know the best (cheapest) place in south east. I dont really want to Prochem a fortune for this.

Once again, thanks in advance.

Justin

hi justin, it's still going then!!  i don't know if this is any help but my hydramaster doesn't have a demand pump like yours, just an ordinary 12v boat pump BUT to compensate for this there are a couple of float switches in the header tank to cut the pump on and off so not to burn out the pump. somebody (mike, richie) might point you in the direction of going down this sort of path and do away with the demand pump bit,

Hi Colin

Yes still going strong, but it should be, had new engine and blower. I think she will never forgive you for selling her to me! The small leak on the pump isnt really an issue...YET. Its just a tiny spray, its difficult to even see it! But I  know it will get worse. I just cant see that I should have to by the whole pump, it looks to me that some gasket glue would do it.

When you say 'Demand Pump',  do you actually mean the diapragm pump is leaking??

Juast double checked, yes it is the diapragm pump that has sprung a leak. When I described this to Prochem they said the whole demand pump will need replacing, which rattled me a bit. Surley at worst it would only be the Diapragm pump that needs replacing? Anyone have any idea how much these cost?

They're about £100-£150 Justin - I bought one from a marine supply centre a couple of months back (sorry don't have link)
