sebo on white wool
« on: June 04, 2010, 04:17:57 pm »
Started cleaning a white wool berber today and noticed it was going darker. Had cleaned the sebo thoughrally yesterday, knowing I had this on today. Used a brush for prespray, as a precaution. Do you use the same sebo for all carpets?

PS. Don`t think I could go back to using a brush, especially in this weather 8)

I have never had any trouble with my sebo on any carpet, so don't think the sebo was the problem, what pre spray did you use?
I don't know how a brush can be quicker, although not used one for years.

Hi,

White wool berbers generally go dark with a decent prespray and good agi.  I tell clients that wool looses it opacity when wet, and will look fine when dry.  Its not a lie because they do.

Its seems that ineffective hoovering leaves so much soil at the base of the floor and trapped under the loop, soon as you get it wet it looks terrible.  Try a white towel when finished, if done right you wont get soil, but the carpet will look terrible.

Pre warn the client that this will happen and will get better when dry. Better you say it on survey or before you start work, then you look better.

Hope this helps

Graeme

I had a similar problem about a month ago.... I noted they had a coal fire, so switched tactics to Prochem Ultrapac Renovator.... Results? Top job! ;)

Did the room/house have a coal/wood burner/fire?

It was a very old house, so I mentioned that I could be pulling dust maybe from floor boards. I was just wary of using the duo on every carpet, cos I have cleaned some mingers with it, and didn`t know if the brushes would transfer some staining, cos the brushes are a dark grey colour onto this pure white carpet. Just erring on the side of caution, I suppose. What colour are new brushes?
