Call back,typical
« on: April 30, 2010, 12:55:57 pm »
Had a flat out day yesterday, last job was a quick splash round of visible carpet in a 2 bed,2 small bathrooms, round the beds in 2 bedrooms, and an entrance hall.
Priced over the phone, last job of the day,was just around the corner so did it cheap for cash....
Think i should have walked away when i saw the carpet, henna everywhere, red make up,general dirt, shoe polish etc etc, place was minging.Did qualify cust before i even got the machine out that results were not going to be what he was expecting !!
Used some Solvall in the hallway, which cut through the surrounding dirt, and left really clean patches, could not get the rest of the carpet too match......Got a call back today saying they were not happy, explained to her that i did say too her husband results would not be great.
Got too go back now on Friday..
Carpet was white polly prop, sort of berber looking textured stuff, around bath was really bad too, from years of water damage, even moaned at that, told them it was rotten and needed replacing,oh you got it clean last time,er yes, that was 2 years ago, when you had only been there 8 months !!!!
Rage over  >:(

Reminds me of todays job......cream, cheap polyprop, 'can't you get the bit by the plastic cover in the hall the same, I only covered when it was last done!

ehh no  ::)

hit it with some renovate, hopefully that might even it up, I find a fine mist of white spirit helps too.

Mark live and learn mate they want it cheap before you start and then expect miracles when you finish

No point getting older in this game without getting wiser once bitten the saying goes:

You got a dirty carpet you want it cleaned

You got a old dirty carpet you want it to look like new buy a new one.

Funny you mention Craftex Champion MArk.
Today I was cleaning the dirtiest set of stairs I have done.
Presprayed with Prochem Dry Blend
I did the landing (and that was bad)
Came down the stairs which were really really bad, but was not happy, rinsing with Hyradramaster Clear Water Rinse.
So went over stairs again with Champion and rinsed off again.
Still not brilliant, but they were very bad.
Client happy though.

Yeah i should have walked away, shouldn`t let it get too me,but on a job i did today i think i over compensated in qualifying the custy on the expected outcome,it`s quite easy to baffle people who really just want a carpet cleaning, and know full well that your not able to perform miracles

Hi Mark,

Have done the same myself mate in the past so consider it a harsh lesson learned but dont beat yourself up about it ;). Try powerburst if you havent already, mix hot let dwell for 10-15 mins before extraction it will usually do the trick even on stubborn greay soiling and most spots / stains. Sometimes repeat with ultrapac on really stubborn areas.

For a quick once over this should surfice if you have stipulated it before you started.

Remember a spotter and cloth on isolated areas can sometimes remove more soiling leaving cleaner areas that general cleaning wont match. If you are left with the odd bad spot then restrict spotter to a finger covering on a cloth and work on the spot rather than any surrounding carpet area.

All the best,
Jason.

Thanks for all your input peeps  ;D Will get some pictures next time i am there, before and after, couldn`t take any (which i know is a mistake) but the husband was hovering over me until i had got about 20 mins in.
They had a complete lack of respect for their carpets,if i get any feedback after i have been out on Friday,i will explain too them that they need to be a bit more careful.it was very very grim around the toilets, looks like the wall next too it had been pebble dashed and the surrounding carpet too  :(

hot power burst would be my choice.

I was told to think of a carpet like a new milk bottle. kick it around the floor and it will be scratched after a while, like the carpet. Clean it and the scratches are still there, reflecting the light differently, but clean. The custies seem to except this idea.

I went to look a a carpet in a very nice neighbourhood, but could not believe what i found when i walked in the carpet was absolutely filthy it stuck to my shoes, covered in stains, from coffee, tea, lots of make up i really did not want it as the feedback i got from customer started ringing alarm bells, "oh its not that dirty, that will come out" so i went in very high figured what it would be worth for me to take it on, think i charged 0.50 per sq ft still cant believe how they lived with it that bad dont think it had ever been vacuumed it was a beautiful house from outside too :o

Well went back today, and must say i was impressed at how clean i left the carpet on my first attempt !
Really does go too show that these people expect to be able to live somewhere and completely trash their carpets, then expect miracles, from whoever cleans them ,as they want them new looking.
I mixed up a hot mix of ultra pac ren,and made it strong, left it too dwell while i set up the machine, then went in all guns blazing, got a lot more muck out,and husband was happy,o and the woman called me this morning asking if i could get there earlier as thwe carpets took a while to dry,i said no and that was because i had too use 3 x the amount of fluid.
