Did you build or buy your round./s
« on: April 30, 2010, 05:48:53 pm »
Hi, mainly for the guys who employ....

did you build then buy?...

The reason i ask is ,i have built my round on leaflets and some knocking, hence its quite scattered , but is still a good round as its mainly blocked and compact in all the areas i work... (scattered areas if you get my drift)

So to employ someone i would like to think that they would do as many per day as i do.... but i just dont see it..

A good compact round is ideal to employ someone... but one scattered over different areas ...i dont think will be as profitable,

how did you guys go on after first building your one round... then your second round...

did you have to try and buy compact ...or just keep on canvassing,?

sorry for my jumbled way of asking

but im sure you get me  ;)

I bought and canvassed got bored and sold it now im just canvassing....

It took me 6 months to train a lad to clean at the speed and high standard i expected.
If your planning to employ them to work this round on their own you also need to think about if you would trust them or if your paying them enough for them not to try and start up on their own.

I prefare to be there orchastrating the work. My preference would be to have two lads - one on the ladder and one on the ground then i would knock doors, open gates, foot ladders and save time on every house.

This would also allow me to price lower as i know im getting more turnover per hour.....
Some may disagree but my lower prices leaves me less open to being undercut whilst providing a high quality service. This also lets me get compact work faster especially now price is becoming an issue round here with other wcs and job losses but this is only on rounds im currently building. Once we are in good economic position my prices are going up by 50% or more  ;D

My new method of cleaning houses now is based on cleaning as many houses as possible per hour rather than just relying on high pricing

Good luck

I bought then canvassed then bought, sold canvassed sold bought canvassed sold sold canvessered did nothing sold ect ect.

nothing wrong with buying if you have the funds and the works right, or can risk for the right work..canvassing is time consuming if you have loads of time it is ok. to build and quick you need to buy or employ.
If your not willing to learn, No one can help you, If you are determined to learn, No one can stop you ;)

Glen i bet you would have got a better response by knocking after youve leafleted.

I generally just knock on the doors but by leafleting then knocking i get a much better hit rate.

Im always aiming for 20 customers a week or 15 on a bad week but i do this by setting targets for what i want to achieve

We've bought a couple of small rounds from retiring window cleaners for single round price, but the majority of our work has been through canvassing, or more recently through referrals.
