My tanks around 25 metres from my van and its filled in minutes, use s 25mm hose for it.

10 metres for me. I use 1.25"/30mm. Which can be gravity or pump fed depending which tank I draw from.

Good mix of volume and not too bulky.

Window Cleaning Forum / Re: Heat pump for heating water

Hi,
Its been some time since I've posted so I'm not sure if this has been discussed but is anyone using or thought of using a heat pump water heater to heat water? Would  a heat pump for a small swimming pool be enough to heat the water in the van? Could it be a possible efficient way of heating the water, maybe even along with an immersion heater to get the water warm enough?

Tell us more. What's the wattage?

I used my immersion for the first time this year today. Mainly for supple hoses and ease of use rather than 'hot' water.

I read it as… I don’t know who has been in my back garden and left the gate open,  if it was you then great but if it was someone else should I be worried?

You could harvest rainwater.
In Scotland maybe, but in England this past summer, no chance.

You can ameliorate the situation if you have enough storage. Especially on the west side of the country and Wales of course.

A guy down here in Bristol had 5000 litres of storage which at 350 litres a day gives about 3 weeks on a 4/5 day week if there was no rain whatsoever.

He lived in a semi and got half of his neighbour's water by removing a downpipe!  ;D

I just wonder whether the cost of tanks and pumps and general unsightliness is worth it.
Firstly Malc, how are you doing since your operation?

I just think of the lengths Thimble Brimble (Jeff Brimble) went to harvesting rain water, and he lives/lived in Wales. I can remember one post where he was up in the middle of the night disposing of the first water run-off from a gutter, before catching the remaining run-off. I can remember posting a link to an Australian website selling an automatic diverter that sent the first portion of water to the drain before diverting the rest to the water storage tank.

Years back, I monitored how much rain we got on the north-east coast during the summer with a rain gauge. It just wasn't enough, although winter rainful was much better.

There was a poster on one of the forums working in the Netherlands. I seem to remember he managed using 2 or 3 x 1000 litre IBC tanks collecting rain water from his house roof.

Yes Spruce - it is a faff. I have never  bothered  - especially as I'm not on a meter.

As for my hernia op - all excellent and better than new thanks.

Op on August 9th - NHS did it within one week of my OP appointment which was about 2.5 weeks after my GP referral which was a couple of days after my visit to A&E.

Back to low level 2 hours a day for two days in week 6; 4 hours for three days in week 7; 5 hours  for three days week 8.

Week 9 (Early - mid October) normal work including my 4 storey job on a Victorian house and a small block of flats.

For all those suggesting an EGR valve and dpf delete, our mot inspector told me they now have to plug their system into the OBD2 port to read engine oil temps and emissions.
That OBD report from the vehicle is included with the report that goes to the dvla. That report includes the  vehicle's  chassis number read from the  ecu and of course, the chassis number has to match the vehicle's registration number which is checked at the start of the mot. They will be able to immediately identify if the  EGR and dpf components are missing. These more stringent mot test became into force this past October.
These tests also require a photo of the vehicle to be taken showing the vehicle's number plate with the test in progress.

Our next door neighbour's son had his dpf and EGR deleted on his BMW. It's going to be very interesting how his car is going to pass with the garage that had them removed.

That's what they are doing a forced regen......I will take it from there.....after googling removal of DPF and the consequences I won't be going down that route.

The guy who took the readings wrote everything down one of them reads "soot content high" but couldn't spend any more time with it as I went in because I was working next to the place and he broke off to plug it in and test it but couldn't do much else for me for the next 2.5 weeks as was mown out.
Went to auto electrician I've used before and from the readings I showed him he thought it was, for some reason, not regenerating so was going to try a regeneration I think he called it........he also mentioned replacement or removal.....I'll know more Wednesday when I take it in......removal without replacement isn't happening.........no warning lights are showing either.......I only do about 3500 miles a year and actually have to go for a run out on motorway to try keep it clear..............funnily enough did a 5 mile round trip today and no problem.

The garage can do what they call a forced regen they can do this several times but if the DPF is choked up it will need removing and cleaning or replacing
