:) Hi everyone,
Im thinking of putting up my prices in Aprill by about 50 / 60p, I havent up them up at all for twelve months, is this a good idea or should i leave it untill next year?
I have told some of my customers that i maybe putting the price up and they are ok with it but had two that are not to happy

We have just put most of our prices up at the beginning of Feb, I would suggest that you do it not more than once per year unless situations change dramatically.
Houses under £7.00 went up 50p, above £7.00 went up £1.00, also brought minimum price up to £5.00. Others that we were already getting a good price for have not changed this year
So far we have only lost one customer but have gained probably 20 + new ones since the beginning of Feb, without trying and all at the new prices
If you feel your prices need to go up, then do it, we have increased our daily significantly without doing any extra work.

It really depends on the current price. If it's low raise it to its correct price now and ech year after. Dont work for nothing. If the prices are good raise them by 50p or£1.00. Dont mess with odd amounts, all prices should end with 50p or full pound. Then raise them each year, and aim to loose 5%. A business adviser told me the price is not the right one unless you loose 20% of customers, then you know you have hit your limit :o :o ;)

Always put my prices up Jan or Feb by .50p (keeps collecting simple) Also find that this is a good time of the year to increase as Casuals hav'nt come out of hibernation yet - and the customer has empathy with you working in all this crap weather.

Anyways im in major dire straits as im in the first 4 yrs of window cleaning, only JUST started putting prices up, started thinking to myself people arent to sure about it aswell.
I hope i aint over stretched my price increase as im slightly worried i may lose more than 20% if i up them more than 50p, and now cos i lost at least 2 years of wage increase im gonna have to do something thoughtful to at least gain half of that break up.
Anyone got any ideas about how quickly i should up after this, To keep them smiling?

If you put them up by 20% and lose 20% of customers you earn the same money in less time. Then you find new customers, price them higher than the current ones and use that as a base £ as to what you should earn. You then put them up 10% and aim to loose 10% of customers each year. continue this way and you will increace turnover and customer base.
DONT WORK FOR PEANUTS, YOUR CUSTOMERS WILL THINK YOU ARE A MONKEY!!

Generally up your prices once per year - if you can't tell them to their face put it in a type-written note.
I go for 50p to £1 on most properties around £8 - £10 and £1 - £1.50 on properties at £15 plus.
