Just dumped a long-standing customer.
His son had got in touch about window cleaning and I forgot to get back to him until the day I cleaned his Dad's windows.
You got back to my son today? Didn't he get in touch a while ago?
me: Yes I've been busy
Perhaps you should be more organised.
me: You're not my boss
I am your boss, we are in a master/servant relationship
me: No I'm a contractor
Dumped, I don't need people like that
Now they are emailing and whatsapping saying how I've got it wrong - no, they have
Would any of you put up with that? or have I been self-employed for too long? ;D

Theses things do happen especially when you are busy with work and lots of new enquiries, I would have apologised, and explained why I hadn’t done it , if they then replied like your customer did it would be a dump and walk away , certainly wouldn’t tolerate that .
-
Yes you get idiots like these - Master/servant indeed ;D
it does depend on the tone and who the customer is, as to decipher was in jest or not, but either way if I was quoting the son for work I would have doubled the price just for my own satisfaction.
Us plebs need to stick together ! - UP the revolution

He sounds like a total bell end but "your not my boss" was probably best left as a thought in your head rather than texted as a response :)

Yeah these situations never seem to arise with me, but I’m always careful with my words.
In my opinion, it’s not worth a bad review (if you’re on Google etc) so i tend to choose my words carefully, I can dump customers without a bad word/antagonising word said on my part.

I had a customer speak to me in a similar fashion about 3 or 4 years ago.
I responded by saying ‘Excuse me? I think you need to consider our working relationship over’.
-
I would threaten him with legal action over words like that.
Disgraceful!
Very racist towards us shiners ;D
-
I'd have agreed with him when he said I should be more organised. Maybe apologised for not getting back in touch with the son.
Then maybe suggested they employ a more organised and servile window cleaner.

Well just say "If you're my boss, I QUIT!!" 🤣🤣

Well just say "If you're my boss, I QUIT!!" 🤣🤣
" And I want 2 months' redundancy money and Severance Pay!
What's that? Oh, you're not my boss.
Fair enough then "

Her husband was vile to me in lockdown, so I dumped her.
Yesterday that text arrived and she wants to come back on. I replied as shown.
I have not replied to the last text but I’m so tempted to put.
If I ever need work that is slow paying, with dog poo”d patios and husbands who are rude and aggressive, I’ll get in touch. Oh, and your recommendations value my service thanks!

It was lockdown but ok to work outside with social distancing. He came out for a chat but was in my face and I said are we not social distancing here then to which he replied. You’re on my land and if you don’t like it, f@@@ off. To which i did. He always had a superior attitude
Love the fact after 3 years no one’s been as good. Served her for 15 years. 😀

"You're on my land" ;D.

When he said 'you need to be more organised'
I would have said 'I totally agree, the problem is I have too many customers, so I won't be cleaning yours anymore'!

This was a face to face conversation, no banter no jokes, just trying to be the big boss...nah mate bye!

I hate when a family member wants them doing.
Lost count of how many times I've continued to put up with poor customers because I clean their parents etc who are great customers. Its almost inevitable if you give one the boot the other will soon drop you.
