-
So sorry to hear this. Please do keep us updated.
-
All the best
-
Hope the outcome is ok.
-
Hope he is okay, bet its knocked your son for 6
-
Fell off a few time’s years ago whilst working with ladders so did the guy that used to work for me,pure luck we got away with it many times 3 floors up the point of the ladder on a wafer thin bit of cement on the edge of the window.
If you think about it using ladders to clean windows these days is just madness when they are simply not needed, hope the guys ok.
-
Sorry to hear this. Hope all is ok..been there, done the 3 weeks in hospital after and much more complications after that. Not a nice thing at all

Update
The ambulance was called and on scene in minutes, the lad that fell landed face first onto the ground, his injuries are horrific, head and back, he has been transferred to another hospital and placed in an induced coma as he has bleeding on the brain, that's all I know for now.
I hope he pulls through and my thoughts go out to his family at this time.
This has really shaken my son up as we mainly work trad, although we have WFP for our own business.
My lad was working with this company as he had just sold them some customers in an area they both had work, he was only supposed to be out with them yesterday, but the combined round pushed the work into a 2nd day.
He came home yesterday and the first thing he moaned to me about was the ladders they were using, flimsy ladders with plastic feet that were to short for jobs, my lad saying he had to put ladder on 2nd last rung to get enough height to do windows, he got a severe row off me for that as we never extend ladders over half way.
The reason we use trad is that when we moved back to the area and tried WFP, customers moaned as another WC had gave it a bad reputation, we took hundreds of jobs of this WFP cleaner, but as from tomorrow all customers on our rounds will now be done by wfp on tops and trad bottoms, no excuses or their dumped.
I hope that other trad window cleaners wake up to the dangers of ladders once more of this incident comes to light and they move over to wfp.
Stay safe out there lads.

Hope the guy involved makes a speedy and full recovery.
Why didn’t you just tell your customers that it’s not the WFP that does a bad job, it’s the person operating it.
-
I hope he pulls through this, poor fella.
-
That sounds horrific, poor lad, wishing him and his family well.
-
Poor bloke. I hope he’s not too bad.
-
Sounds horrific.....hope he s gonna be ok?.....I've fell off ladders twice and landed on my heels from first floor height(ladder slipped down the wall both times)....luckily I was fine apart from a sore ankle first time and a slightly sore lower back second time...I went for x ray came back fine.....very very lucky!
-
Every customer who's doubted WFP I simply tell them not to pay me if their not happy with the clean once theyve dried......
I've never not been paid in 10+ years of WFP....
-
I’ve said the same over the years I like seeing their faces when they come up really well, really doubt it and then can’t believe that if you know what you’re doing and you’ve done the hours long course jobs a god”n” 🤣🤣🤣
-
When they see the water steaming hot they know you mean business anyway 💪
-
Wishing him a speedy recovery.

So Sorry to hear of this fall, and the serious injuries. My thoughts to you and the chap concerned. Hopes for a good recovery

I get quite a lot of people wanting trad and i just think you selfish git, you want me to struggle climbing up ladders risking injury because you "dont like them left wet"
This is why times have moved on, everything does eventually, im sure one day window cleaning will become obsolete (hopefully not in my lifetime)

i cant remember when i customer last said they prefer me to climb ladders.......it was years ago.......in fact i couldnt clean half the windows on my round if i went back to the ladders.......
-
is that because your so good at cleaning Windows dazmond 😂😂😂

I wonder how roofers get on these days ??? How on earth do they manage climbing ladders to get on a roof?

theres a guy who lives over the road from me...he used to be a roofer until he fell off one about 15 years ago.......he can hardly walk(he still walks with a heavy limp)....he had one of them metal brace things drilled into his shinbone for years.... :(

I’d say a roofer is a lot less at risk than a window cleaner who uses ladders.
I used to do about 100 ladder climbs a day when I was traditional.
A roofer might only do 2.
Hope the lad recovers ok. Sounds terrible.

i often use doubles to gutter clean upto 11+ runs, double extensions, heavy duty, not tinny cheap alluminium, always with a stand off. im getting to hate these jobs as i know the danger. there is only a certain height noww i will go upto. normal terraced house height.
This is a freightening situation to happen. most young lads will run up and down as i did when i first stared out. I would not be doing it now if i was not doing WFP.
we all hope he recovers.
-
Most decent roofers now insist on scaffold, my mate does.

Bin them off mate....none of us are getting any younger....
I dont do any gutter clearing at all now as I'm busy enough with wfp cleaning from the ground....

Me neither, in fact when I got a new van a year ago I made the decision not to put a roof rack on it, so anything that needed a ladder for access onto a flat roof etc got binned off too.
-
A guy I know trads bungalows only. He's nearing retirement and is always busy.
I found out that he fell off a ladder (a while back) and broke both his ankles and that's why he now only trads bungalows.
Fair play to him...
-
I have to agree tbh if you have a ladder that’s to long to go in the back of the van it’s too long,I have one and it’s about 6” too long to go in but I won’t be getting another van with a roof rack either.
I’ll go up onto a low flat roof these days but that’s it and nearly all the time that’s to clean a roof of some sort with WFP,some people still going around using ladders for a couple of reasons usually they’ve no place to make or get water or can’t afford to get setup.
Doesn’t matter how often or skilled you think you are on a ladder at some stage you will fall off,no different to having a motorbike they’ve all fallen off at some point.

Really? You do make up some rubbish NWH😂
-
If you talk to any serious biker or someone who’s used ladders for years they’ve all come a cropper at some point,if not they are the ones talking you’re crap.
-
WFP was developed to be a safer way to clean windows. HSE say that if a safer method is availabl, it should be used. If they get involved to investigate an injury, it's the first thing they will ask and if trad is used when WFP is available, they will not be happy.
I hope that the lad make a full recovery.
-
I would say it’s a given if WFP is available I would never let an employee climb a ladder these days.
-
Ive got a motorbike and covered thousands of miles each year, never fell off.
Now if you did your research properly you would of said a horse rider, interesting stat is everyone who owns a horse has fell off, fact
-
And unicyclists.
-
Bikes are terrible things what’s the statistics with people killed on our roads regarding motorcycles could someone please enlighten me.
-
Average 350-500 deaths since 2016-20 a year apparently huge amount more serious injury accidents go unreported and are not included within the overall statistics.
-
I was trad for about 2 years and luckily never had a fall.
I've ridden motorbikes for over 25 years, never came off. I did stop once and couldn't put my feet down...how embarrassing!
My friend's son is a very young professional jockey. He's come off twice and both times it's been broken bones, ribs, shoulders that kind of thing.
-
Whoever hasn’t come off a bike or a ladder if they’ve been on or up em for years is very lucky that’s all I can say.

I must say, I have to agree.
My brother was a motorcycle courier in London for 2 years and never had a serious accident. Taking off a wing mirror was a daily occurrence.
He did once, half fill his motorbike with diesel. Apparently he smoked out the entire Blackwall Tunnel. The irony was the police had set up a speed trap at the end of the tunnel, heard his massively noisy motorbike coming and were ready with their cameras. However, his bike wouldn't do more than 30 mph, because it was full of diesel. Lots of smoke and noise, but not much else!
-
I know many bikers and I’ve known a few who are no longer with us due to a motorcycle, drive along in a car run over a branch at 50-60mph you hear it and think nothing of it or dislodged cats eye-large rock you drive on,do that on a bike there’s a very good chance that could kill you. There’s no getting away from it they are dangerous in any hands, one split second as they say about Joey Dunlop.
I don’t know why we even bother to have a debate about ladders for goodness sake, why are people still using them to clean windows.
-
Pay £2000 for a bike these days you’ve got Lamborghini performance, trouble is the blokes riding em reminiscent of their biking days 25 years earlier fail to realise they aren’t like the bikes they once rode 🤣🤣🤣.
-
Rode a bike two up down a country lane and decided I was going to fast to make the sharp bend so told my mate to brace himself as I decided to go straight on through the hedgerow instead, we had a soft landing in a muddy field, beat sliding the bike on a sharp bend ;D
-
🤣🤣 with a bike it’s not a wing or a bonnet it’s you’re leg or you’re head,0-60 and stop again within 3 seconds lol yeah they’re safe.

You’ve ridden for over 25 years and not come off? It hurts! You must be a very careful rider.
-
I’ve fallen off every bike I owned and had a terrible fall from some skirtingboard ladders.
-
NWH Ive rode a bike for 8 years now, I passed my tested at 36 and went straight onto a 675 daytona. I now ride a BMW s1000rr, 207hp and nearly 190 top speed, guess what? Ive never crashed or nearly died, amazing isn't it, however I have fell off ladders, therefore in my eyes ladders are more dangerous.
Thing is ive experience of both but i don't go round preaching whats dangerous and what isn't
-
Be careful they ride that bike round the Isle of Man all they do is change the tyres change the pads and discs and tweek the suspension 😂,lovely piece of machinery very very quick beats nearly all cars over a 1/4 mile.
-
And planes 🤣.
-
ive been the IOM plenty of times as well. I also sponsor one of the riders there
-
Really we we’re going to go last year couldn’t book anywhere the only thing left was glamping we didn’t fancy that at the time, decent accommodation as you’ll know needs to be booked 2-3 years in advance.
-
We rent a school teachers flat, have done for years, she has now moved to a bigger detached house so now we have even more room
-
Where on the course is her house id like to be able to get to the bottom of Bagarrow and at some point the middle of Sulby straight and then spend a bit of time near Ballagarey.
-
Where not far from QB, also managed to get onto the roof of that pub the last few years as we got on very well with the landlord.
-
Just to add to the debate, I rode my first bike 1967 and have rode ever since and still do today, I've had 3 accidents, 1 serious with concussion, broken leg and collar bone and 2 minor ones with just cuts and bruises
I've been cleaning windows since 1975 and have never fallen off a ladder yet, wfp these days and only use ladders on the odd occasion when cleaning gutters out
-
Stay saaaafe guys, beee seeeing you 👌

I was careful.
Don't get me wrong, i've had some serious near misses but never been off.
The traffic in Essex got so bad, my 22 mile journey to work took forever in a car.
So I bought a motorbike.
My brother used to rally cars and do motocross, so I looked to him for inspiration.
After a few bikes, I ended up with a BMW R1100gs. I never had a car (my missus did) so I used this bike every day for over 4 years. Even in the snow and ice. Luckily it had abs brakes. I reckon this saved my life about 3 times.
I did advanced motorcycle training blah blah blah very clever stuff.
The irony is I ended up single in Bournemouth.
Don't get me wrong, Bournemouth is lovely but the state of the roads are awful. I mean bloody awful.
I've got a Toyota Hiace and when I hit a bump I think 'jesus christ'!
I bought an original 600 fazer to nip about on (I liked the original ones) but the roads are so bad, I sold it.
I can't go a month off work with a broken wrist!
I do miss it!!!
