Just a quick question -
Has anyone had time off due to a hernia??
I've got myself down on the local waiting list for an operation but have no real idea on how long I'll be off or what to expect?
Doc says 3/4 wks?
Several customers I've spoken to say more like 6/8 wks?
Any personal experiences?
Cheers

yes mate had a hernia but when i was young about 20, in and out the same day, dont get the mesh fitted go for the stitching, they gave me a choice said the stitching would last 20 years that was 28 years ago ;D, the mesh has had bad reports unless theres new ones google it, wasn't window cleaning but from memory was walking within a week or so slowly, for our kind of job all the movement i would say at least a month, you dont want to rip it again but could get back earlier but taking it slowly.

Cheers bud.
Customer of mine told me his was sorted in a day.
A year or so later he popped it again! (Was about 20yrs ago tho)
Said 1st time was off about 4wks - longer 2nd.
Another customer said light duties after about 3wks then normal after 6??
Bit worried now tbh 😖

I had a hernia op (groin) back end of last year. Six weeks off work, really painful and you do need a full recovery rest tbh.

Double hernia opp was in hospital 7 days 2 months off but tooks months before I was back to normal

Nothing showing I had 2 low down under stomach tissue not visible even with scan my customer actually did the operation I only had 5 days off key hole should have had longer off though.
If you have open cut surgery you will need longer off,he said to me there’s no time really after a week if you feel ready start work but don’t go mad.
