Title: Nat West Bank
Post by: CleanClear on April 09, 2019, 07:01:39 pm
Anyone here still have their business account with them ? I know there was lots of talk on here several times a while back about Nat West and lots jumped ship to Santander, i think that was the favourite. Reason i'm asking is i stayed with Nat West and they've been emailing me and sending me snail mail asking me to change banks. The waffle is they had to much market share or some such bumf so they where selling some of their business arm off to first Santander, then that fell through then it was gonna be William and Glynns Bank, then that fell through. I stayed because they have a branch local to me so its handy to pop in to deposit cheques. So the latest offer now is they will pay me £750 to move, choices include CO-OP bank, Santander amongst others. Anyone else in the same situation ?

I have banked with Nat West Business for well over 15 years now!  Your post comes as news to me but I will call or email my business manager this morning and ask her

If they have too many commercial banking customers, why are they still advertising for business customers?

Just be careful it’s not a fraudulent letter or email you’ve been getting.

Sometimes when something sounds too good to be true it usually is.

Although it could be a case of £750 off future bank charges too, rather than a one off payment.

NatWest charge about 35p per transaction . If you have 1000 transactions going through that's £350.
Santander don't charge anything just a fixed monthly fee of £7.50.

I’ve got a bossiness account with them they charge me 35p per online transaction and 60p per cheque. Outrageous but do you want to switch everyone on to a new account and it’s all tax deductible.

Inform the customers how much it costs you,I put prices up to cover the transaction charges and the cost of them giving w a cheque, the time they post it 1st class it’s gonna cost them almost £1-20 that soon gets em online.

It’s tax deductible....Oh that’s ok then!!   These charges would cost me a small fortune.

yes we were being forced to move to Williams and Glynn - that fell through so I await eagerly an offer of £750 because we opened a Yorkshire bank account for the free banking - but still have the dormant natwest one

through research its been reported that NatWest were obliged to take on extra business accounts,(back in 2006 to 2009) however they now want to get rid of all those that don't earn them money ( ie. don't do enough deposits, have overdrafts etc... ) they still want new business accounts but only the that will rack up lots of charges

... and close branches all over the place to make it difficult to deposit money into your account.

why do you let a bank rip you off?just open a personal current account then you wont get any charges whatsoever...ive never paid any bank charges OR any interest on credit cards either(0% interest free card)......

Because I’m 90% commercial. I don’t have  hundreds of separate £10’s and £20’s going into my account. My monthly fees are usually <£20 a month. So yeh I find them great.

I personally can't recommend Santander for us more.. especially if you have small transactions going through which is quite common in the nature of our business. You can deposit cash and cheques 24h a day free at any Santander cash point I now do my banking on a Sunday morning. The machines identify the cheques automatically and you can feed 30 at a time cash is easily counted as well.
Soon they're going to have a cheque imaging system where you can just screenshot it can't wait for that. After 18 months is up I think it's a very nominal 0.07% per £100 so 70 pence. However more importantly BACS transfers electronic purchases and electronic credits are totally free.

Many things are tax deductible but it doesn't mean we need to be ripped off on them NatWest would cost well into 4 figures per year for most.
Santander costs £7.50 a month.

They offered me £750 to leave.
I had the wife's tights over my head and a Brodex pole in my hands though.
I only went in for some money bags.

Natwest, I had no option, they wriote saying the £25 set fees per month was stopping and going variable
This they calculated would be £81 per month on my currant banking....
Manager wasn’t interested, so I went Santander, set up over the phone
£7.50 a month, all DDs were done, all direct payments are pinged from old account for 3 years.

My Santander Business Account is free. They took over what was the Alliance & Leicester I think.

Pay my cheques in for free at any Post Office. I think I'm limited to 100 cheques a month but fewer & fewer are paying by cheque now anyway. Bacs are free.

Never had a problem with Santander apart from they often send me the wrong paying in envelopes.
