Title: Booster pump problem

Hi guys,
Came back after Christmas and my RO system would only get up to 30 psi with a booster pump. Usual was around 60psi.
Changed all pre filters and membranes, all flushed to waste as recommended.
Pressure still 30
Tried unscrewing the filter housings to bleed air out, but still 30.
Luckily I have a local Spotless filling station!
Any ideas? Thanks.

Check the pressure coming out of the mains before blaming the RO.

You should have been getting more than 60psi with a booster.

Hi, pump is a e-chen ec204-300 from vyair. Installed 12/2016.
Not on back flush.
I ‘ve had the problem before, usually when changing filters.
Pressure drops, even with the booster pump.
Can’t remember what cured it.
Best pressure was aroun 80.
Last filter change it settled at 60 and I admit I let it run at that not wanting to tempt fate!
Think it must be an airlock somewhere but frustrating!

The temperature can make a difference to the pressure. Summer I get 80, currently 40 psi

Never heard of those pumps but they look like cheap Chinese ones (going by search results)  I always found with my old 300gpd system that it seemed to take a couple of days to settle down when changing membranes but not pre filters. Although the pump says its self priming i would think there could be some sort of air lock in it possibly if everything else is set right.
Personally i always used aquatec booster pumps and never had problems with them.

yes - not what expected to see I had ro4040 in mind Doh!!

is everything plugged in/fitted the right way round ?

Have you taken a reading of the R/O purity.If filters don't get changed regularly then R/O will eventually clogg up and produce less quality water even after new filters fitted. Cold weather slows down pressure as well

Everything is new, filters, membranes, flow restrictor and resin, all connected up right.
Maybe it just all needs to settle in (yeah!)
Think it might be the self priming pump, not sure how I could ensure its full of water, although good flow into the pump and out the other side.
We’ll see! No panic as Spotless nearby and much better water than mine!

I just remembered an old thread where the guy forgot to remove the cellophane wrapper off the filters

might be worth a look

Pretty sure its air in the ‘self priming!’ Booster pump.
Feel the outside and listening and it sounds like air is trapped in the pump.
I wonder if lowering the pump below the tap level may force out the air?

Can't you uncouple the pump from the r/o and then run the pump with the tap on?
