Title: Grout/Crack Filler, re- colouring.
Post by: Dave_Lee on October 23, 2018, 01:38:05 pm
I filled a long 2.5 metre quite wide crack in a tumbled Travertine floor with cream resin filler. I finished off with a wax dressing. It is lighter than expected. Can I add a deeper colour over the filler to make it more like the Travertine colour.

Yes grind the top layer of the repair off.  Then repeat what you did but colour the resin to suit to obtain the correct shade prior to adding the hardener and "The jobs a good un"

Thanks Kevin. Would a grout re-colour not work instead of applying more resin?

Grout Colourant is unlikely to adhere very long in my opinion to a repair resin, my choice would be to do it with resin personally.  How much area are we talking about?

The repaired crack in question is around2.5 metres long, from almost hairline to just over a CM thick.

I would do it with repair resin.  All you do is run a dremmel over the repair to grind it down a bit.  Then mix a new top layer coloured to suit, add your hardener apply it and its done

Ok, thanks Kevin, I'll give that a go.
