Title: seals on windows

is there any truth in water fed cleaning ruining seals on windows had a old lady say could you do them trad as you have broke my seals on the window i told her its just water how do you go on when it rains my opinion is they were on there way out and being old school she wants them done old way no worrys have to do a few backs of a ladder anyway so just knock it in with them

In my experience you are more likely to do damage to window seals with a squeegee  than with a brush if you are using both sensibly.

It is possible to damage the seals with both methods but, detergent is more likely to degrade the rubber than water.

I was always told that washing up liquid degrades the seals over time. Maybe not the newer neoprene low sight line seals, but the older rubber type.
