Title: Obsessive, compulsive rinsing
Post by: tom2009 on April 23, 2010, 02:54:03 pm
packed up after a job today and had to get it all back out as water had got into a vent and run dirty water over a pane  :-\. The pressure through the pencil jets sprays up and out when I rinse so I spent more time rinsing and more rinsing. Extra tricky when on 2nd storey. My question is are any of you based in the Northants, Beds (sort of) area that is prepared to let me watch them wfping, established pro's if poss. to give me an idea of how long I should be taking. I'm off out now to finish off. Hopefully hear from someone later.

Thanks

Tom

ps I know about the Ionics roadshows, I'd just like to see wfping in the field type thing

Tom, rinsing is something that's done quickly, pretty much as fast as you can zig zag your brush down the glass.

Here, look at this link; it shows Peter's clampless pole but Peter's got the right idea with regards speed.

if that is giving it a good enough rinse then I'm the same as OP as I scrub like crazy and rinse much more than that, but I've only been using wfp for a couple of days and I need to get confident of what is enough to get good results.

Sorry Tosh, but watching Peter Fogwill is not the best way to learn how to clean a window!!!

Lying the brush on the ground is not what I would want to post up as an example of how to do things!

Not bad, but being lazy, I'd've swapped to a shorter pole for the ground floor (my brush head just slides off the longer pole and straight onto a short one) to make the work even easier.

I run to each window all day, probably doubles my turnover on an average day. My custies judge my work by the results that they get, which are perfectly clean windows everytime. The house in the clip is cleaned every month, so it dosn't take much to get them clean. Lets compare our average daily takings to see who's 'got a clue'!!  ;D  The house in the clip is charged at £15 and takes less than 5mins, and on that estate I have over 100 houses exactly the same and I can in general clean about 6 houses without moving the van!! Now who hasn't got a clue d#ckhead!!!  ;)

You're being awfully offensive tonight Mr Groundhog.

This isnt the first post where youve tried to insult someone.

Cant handle your beer?

I am completely sober Mr Butcher, I have taken the trouble to post a vid of myself at work to try and help some of the other guys. So I don't like being insulted, especially by someone called Daz!!!!  ;D

Sounds painful!!!  :(  I read a book once, called 'Your Body's Many Cries For Water' It is about how important hydration is to the body, and how drinking enough water can cure many diseases in human beings. Before I read this book, I suffered from asthma and had to take steroid and reliever inhalers, and also tablets to control my symptoms. Within 3 days of following the advice in this book I was free of asthma and stopped taking the medication. I am telling you this bacause the book also talks about lower back pain, and the author has also written a book specifically on this subject called 'How to deal with back pain and rheumatoid joint pain' He talks a lot of sense, and as I said it worked for me, why not get yourself a copy. You've got nothing to lose and it may help!!  :)

I have to admit that video from Groundhog does look very fast...I just wish I had the danglies to to them that fast..I think I would take much, much longer doing them and that house would take me about 20 minutes at least poss more.

I just do not have the confiendence to do them that fast...this is not an attack on the video.
groundhog has been doin it for.. i think he said 4/5 years ;D even if i'd been doin it 10years
i still wouldnt b that quick  :P

Title: Re: Obsessive, compulsive rinsing
Post by: windowswashed on April 24, 2010, 12:16:58 pm
The whole point of the rinse is to pull any small bits of dirt down the pane of glass with the weight of the water. Doesn't matter what way you do it so long as you start from the top.

It's the scrubbing that is equally as important as that's when the dirt is loosened by the scrubbing motions of the brush. If you don't get the scrubbing right, the rinsing won't be right.

It sure can, I use a slightly different technique these days which is even quicker. Where I used to rinse down the window in a zigzag with the brush head, I now just slide the brush left to right a couple of times at the top of the pane and let the water flow down the window, works just as well and as I said is quicker!!  :)

Anyone running around like that in any business will portray a bad image in most peoples eyes.

I'm in business to make money, and the quicker I clean a window the more money I make, I'm fit and strong and able to work hard and run from window to window all day long!

Back in the 80's there was a labourer who called himself Superhod, he had a specially made hod which I beleive was capable of holding 3 or 4 times what a normal hod would carry, he also had a wheelbarrow made in the same way. He would run all day, and was able to keep a great number of brickies or plasterers going all on his own. He is now a multi millionaire, and I don't think he could care a less if some tw#t suggested he looked unproffessional for using his strength and fitness to earn him a lot of money to provide for himself and family!!!  ;D

i think groundhogs just trying to wind us all up for the fun of it!there just no way you can go round cleaning custys windows like u do in the vid!it really is laughable. ;D ;D

maybe if the custy wasnt in and you was bursting for a tom tit and wanted to get off to the nearest toilet!but if the custys in when you clean and you knocked on after 5 mins you would soon get the sack!

its another case of a arrogant braggart(just like the guys who say they can clean 15 houses an hour blah,blah....yawn!) or a wind up merchant! :P :P ;D ;D ;D

I didn't manage to see Groundhogs vid but going back to peter fogwills vid.I dont believe this is a good technique to use when cleaning, even on a regular clean small dirt and dust particles will still be visible on the pane and a thorough rinse is required to make sure that all small particles are washed downwards and off the glass. With the random action used to scrub the glass in the first place,i doubt the whole area was covered sufficiently to agitate the dirt, and the lack of rinsing in a slower fashion then i can see problems arising on occassions. The other thing that appeals to me is giving a certain value for money to a customer. If i am right or wrong i dont know, but i charge a fair price to do a thorough job and that means convincing myself that the glass has been cleaned and rinsed properly and not just splashed so i can run to the next job.
By the way the comparison between rushing a window cleaning job and a superfit hod carrier is nonsense...the hod carrier didn't have to justify to the customer that the bricks were clean when the job was finished.

Well I've had enough, I had plenty of ideas for other vids etc to put on the forum. But your obviously not interested, so no more uploads from me, and I will delete the one I added.

dont not put up vids because of a small number of people groundhog, they have something to learn from you, they just can't see it yet, I and I would guess loads of other readers (note reader) would want to see your vids.

your welcome to email me links to them if you dont want to post them on here.

dont let me stop you groundhog!what cant you handle a bit of criticism?i think your also too close to the window when your poling.youll get a bad neck like that!

running around with the pole your asking to trip up on hose or something!much better to work at a steady brisk measured pace than running round like an idiot!

again just my opinion! ;D ;D

best wishes

I cleaned my own house yesturday, Groundhog style, and it came up lovely.  No complaints from Wor Lass at all.

It still surprises me at how fast - common sense applying - you can work with WFP.

on regular maintenance cleans you should only
need minimal rinsing unless there has been something
a bit more extreme left on windows.

in fact on some of the newer builds i clean i scrub
the window then move the brush from left to right
at top of glass then move to next window.

never a problem ;)

how yah doing hoggy :) :)

I put about 5 vids on here a year or two ago, not sure if you was on here then. But it all started with my harris pole posts, and I put some vids on to show that a converted £15 harris pole could be used to clean windows just as well as some flash £500 plus pole!! It was also faster as it could be used clampless and could be thrown up to extend it and just dropped down in a fraction of a second to clean the ground floor windows! and I put up the vids to demonstrate this, and also show how to convert and add an extension to the pole. Anyway I ended up deleting them also as I was getting so many insults etc, I think the majority liked/appreciated them, but you always get a few who love to put you down  :(

I think Squeeky clean was right on at least one thing. You cannot clean all properties like that. You can't possibly disagree with that.

In a way I'm glad you took it down, new starters will think they can be that quick on every house on every clean on any frequency. I know which vid it was, you posted it here quite some time ago.

Anyway sorry to dissapoint you, but once I get my camcorder sorted out I'm going to post some clips of my new even quicker techniques!! :o If you don't like them then don't watch them, but if you want to see how I maximize my income everyday.. then watch this space!!!  ;)

I thought it was just the one vid of the back of the house (with the frosted window that you did quicker).

Anyway, please do post them. Never said I didn't like that. Not everyone here is out to take the mick, even though it's sometimes hard to see genuine posts on this forum.

Anybody know of a good wfp video on youtube, showing what you consider normal rinsing techniques?

here goes...

www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPido_qirwc

YouTube reports that this video has now been removed ???
