Just to emphazise the need to diversify these days the job I did on Wednesday was-
Leather corner unit
6 leather dining chairs
3 bedroom carpets
Kitchen / dining / living area / large hallway Karndean to rotary clean , mop and apply 2 coats polish
Fitted felt pads to all large furniture feet as thy were scratching the floor
This was a holiday apartment in Whitby for one of my best clients who are estate agents and hoiday let business. You cant afford to let them go elsewhere cos you only clean carpets.

I had to rescue a duck today (asked by old lady whilst in the middle of a job for a neighbour) that had got caught between 2 fences. My pre-spray dried out (when I went back) and here's gratitude, the sod bit me after I had just saved it's life. Odd day.
Still, getting my new van wrap on Monday so something to look forward too (apart from the bill of course)

Colin,
Whitby has hit a boom time in the last 15 yrs , even in winter if its sunny on a weekend its busy. I feel abit guilty when other carpet cleaners are complaining of being quiet cos due to holiday cottages etc Jan till April if so busy for me. After 20 yrs in this business fortunately in this small place word of mouth a recommendation keeps me busy all year.
If it wasnt for tourism Whitby would be dead - fishing all but gone commercially , no industry as such . Unfortunately fo the employed tourism pays minimum wage ish.
